During my insomnia last night, read up to the food bit.... and got halfway through that!

LOVE IT! Well done MP, in all honesty its fab! Can we PLEASE have a primary school children book in the same format as I am now entering that territory and Im scared!!!

GeraldineMumsnet · 13/02/2009 11:32

Housemum, not sure about wholesale rates but we'll talk to publishers and find out.

fryalot · 13/02/2009 12:08

Got my book yesterday and so far I am loving it.

(thanks for signing it, MP, you wrote a lovely message!)

I love the fact that it suggests several different methods rather than just one rigid "rule"

I love the amusing quotes dotted amongst helpful tips. It had me rofling in my bed last night, dp was like this:

I think if non-mumsnetters were to buy it, they will find it hugely helpful and it is a bloody good advert for the site and our collective wisdom.

bloody well done (I must stop saying that, I'll get a reputation as a sycophant!)

fryalot · 13/02/2009 12:10

and I second the request for a primary school one.

I would also like to see a teenagers one. I personally have needed more advice and support wrt my teenager than I have ever needed wrt three toddlers.

(I'll compile that one if you like )

Housemum · 13/02/2009 13:06

Oh yes, definitely teenagers. (Do I get extra points for having a kid in each category??!!)

fryalot · 13/02/2009 13:12

only if I do too, housemum

(well, teenagers, primary school and toddlers. Don't have a baby any more. but I've had three )

Housemum · 13/02/2009 14:58

I'm double-counting the youngest as baby/toddler as she's just one and not-quite toddling - don't intend to have any more than 3!! Other 2 are primary and teenage (at nearly 16 she's almost human now)

Melscorp · 13/02/2009 18:13

Got my book today. I have been patiently waiting. It does make you laugh in some places. My husband came home from work and I started recounting anecdotes!!!

I am glad it arrived because it seems overnight that my daughter has been replaced by another child. She suddenly goes into sulk mood and there is a cupboard at the side of my fridge and she climbs inside and hides. I try my best to coax her out, but am becoming a bit concerned!!!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 14/02/2009 20:07

Ahem. My copy arrived yesterday, finally, but some of the pages are in the wrong order! The going back to work section starts halfway through another section and then finishes rather abruptly, but then is picked up later on...page numbers are all up the spout too.

Also, and much more importantly, I'M NOT IN IT!

Some mistake, surely?

VanillaPumpkin · 14/02/2009 20:09

I went into our local Waterstones today and had to ask at the counter for the book. I was told it was not a book they stocked but they could order it for me . There was an awful lot of GF on the shelves though...

gigglewitch · 14/02/2009 21:26

mine arrived from Amazon this morning. It's as addictive as the bloody website
so i was late for work

nannynick · 16/02/2009 08:18

So any chance of knowing the latest sales figures? Also other technical data such as how many copies in the initial print run (so those with first editions know how many there were in that run), how many print runs there have been so far, if any errors have been fixed in later print runs etc.

WFHIS - Your copy may be unique, or then again maybe that entire print run was printed like that!

GeraldineMumsnet · 16/02/2009 10:58

Has anyone else had a copy where the pages are in the wrong order? please can you post or email us. Thanks.

fryalot · 16/02/2009 17:27

all pages seem to be in the right order except the ones with my quotes. They appear to be missing completely

yes, sweetie, you are right.

You get yourself off to bed and see if you can dream some niiiiiice big words and tomorrow we'll play again

banjaxed · 17/02/2009 19:52

I found my copy in the second Waterstone's I tried...

It's great. As a mum of a tantrumy but well-slept toddler I love hearing how it is from people who LIVE with toddlers rather than WORK WITH toddlers. Makes me feel more secure in many ways, but a bit apprehensive that the worst is yet to come??

MuppetsMuggle · 18/02/2009 08:30

i've got mine in the post today - eagerly awaited.

barristermum · 18/02/2009 11:06

Hate to sound the dissenting voice but I was just a teensy bit disappointed. I expected one very like the Mumsnet on pregnancy book which I presume is being replaced in this series. This one isn't as comprehensive - print much bigger, feels smaller and less substantial. The anecdotes are every bit as funny and I too was squawking in bed every so often as I read (parting the butt cheeks still as me helplessly almost incontinent with laughter), but I found the tone slightly more didactic because of the editorial style - there seemed to be a much more "official line" being promulgated eg on smacking. Good, but not sadly as good as I'd hoped.
