I think I'd written it BEFORE you arrived Wilf Do you have any other names?

ruty · 05/02/2009 15:47

just wandered into my local bookshop and they had a copy! Very impressed. 'Tis very good MP, well done you. [and everyone else]

ruty · 05/02/2009 15:48

[i bought it btw didn't just flick through it in shop grin ]

ruty · 05/02/2009 15:51

i hate brackets.

ahundredtimes · 05/02/2009 16:46

MP I have given a great deal of my time on this site to sharing with so many people my excellent child-rearing techniques. There was the leash restraint and cage idea, and then the 'wouldn't it be great if the world was made of cheese strings' breakthrough. I am shocked at my exclusion. Wounded.

I think there should be an appendix, or end papers entirely dedicated to ME. I shall however insist everyone I know with a toddler buy this book. As I am generous and not at all bitter. [bitter]

I do actually think it's quite exciting this book. And, other than ONE obvious lapse of judgement, think you've done a tip top job and you should be proud.

Lulumama · 05/02/2009 17:32

am in it ?

am going to town on saturday, shall buy a copy !

morningpaper · 05/02/2009 17:32

@ 100x

morningpaper · 05/02/2009 17:33

lulu I feel you may be well covered in subsequent books in the series

PortAndLemon · 05/02/2009 17:42

Checked it out in Waterstone's, but couldn't help noticing

  • Punctuation error on the back cover (am I the first pedant to point this out?)
  • You appear to have quoted your own pseudonymous Observer article in the flyleaf's list of quotes (probably not actually a flyleaf in a paperback, but whatever it's called)
PortAndLemon · 05/02/2009 17:44

Very good though (apart from offences against pedantry and journalistic ethics )

Lulumama · 05/02/2009 17:49

will they have it in waterstones do you think?

Lulumama · 05/02/2009 17:49

ah, yes, i see they do, portandlemon!!

morningpaper · 05/02/2009 17:50

agree Portandlemon - I didn't notice the error on the back cover, but my six year old did! She is such a swot. "Oooh look, mummy's name in a book!" "oooh mummy, this is all wrong on the back"

Yes I admit that IS basically ME saying how great I am

BennyAndJoon · 05/02/2009 19:15

You are great though

BennyAndJoon · 05/02/2009 19:16

Oh - have noticed a couple of other proof ready things - a full stop where a space should be, something else that I have now forgotten...

Started reading it properly now though, and it flows very well.

morningpaper · 05/02/2009 19:18

shh about the terrible grammatical errors

keep going on about how great it is, MUCH BETTER

BennyAndJoon · 05/02/2009 21:17

It flows very well.

I really enjoy the way the quotes are so appropriate to the text. And it is funny. The constant "then pour wine" is reassuring. Thought I have found one mention of Gin and Tonic, which is even better.

And you are witty.

Do you know of anyone reliable who can look after two of my kids in westminster next week on Wednesday morning so I can go for a job interview???

I have no job. I need a job.

JustineMumsnet · 05/02/2009 22:09

I ventured into Waterstones in Oxford St today with a view to rearranging the Parenting section and they didn't have any, the lady said they aren't intending to get in any despite having loads of Netmums ones on show . It's an outrage...

BennyAndJoon · 05/02/2009 22:12

Justine - will you look after my kids - just for a couple of hours?
