Why so much hate on MN?
Posters hiding behind complaints about the government, presenting themselves as reasonable actors, to push hate about asylum seekers, people with disabilities, benefit claimants..Mostly the same names all day everyday.
I am told to report - MN just not interested.
I am told to hide the thread..
Why isn't moderation better?
I know this will always exist and exists on other platforms but MN makes no effort to even try to anything about it.
You can't really sell MN as a caring, supportive site with all this stuff offered on a daily basis in active.

You are right and yes, the same names spouting hate crop up all the time.

It’s also full of lots of loveliness and kindness which is why I stay.

Lots of people with lots of different opinions maybe? MN can’t censor the ones that you don’t agree with.

Yes there are some unpleasant characters, no denying it.
But there are some amazingly, warm, clever and witty wimmen on here, who give the most heart-warming and detailed advice. Women that take the time to think and impart their wonderful wisdom and it warms the heart 💝

@Oncetwicethreetimesmore Are these threads usually in AIBU? Because I've got that whole board hidden, along with FWR, Royals and a few others as well. Makes life much more peaceful.

I thought AIBU, admittedly responses are normally more brutal on that board but if you ask an opinion then you need to be brave and brace yourself for the answers. Definitely agree with hiding the topics that are the worst.

@Oncetwicethreetimesmore , I know some people believe there is only one ‘right’ way to think but that’s just not true and providing people are posting within the rules of this site and the law of our lands then they are entitled to their opinions.
In answer to your question ‘why’? The answer is really simple, successive governments have totally ignored the very reasonable concerns of the vast majority of the general public and now people are getting fed up. It may seem to you that there is an increase of people feeling this way but I think it’s more likely that people who previously were reticent to express their feelings for fear of being branded racist have given up caring what the woke left think of them because most of them are not racist at all.
There are racists though and if nothing is done to address the concerns of British people there will be an increase in recruitment to their ranks as there has been elsewhere in Europe.

This. Reasonable concerns about immigration is one thing 'all immigrants are rapists' is something else altogether.

Thing if someone is on here all day, everyday & so much that you remember their user names it says a lot about their actual life. Which in turn explains why some are so rude etc.

Women have to spend 99% of the day smiling and being kind and letting things go and performing good femininity. It's good to have a board to vent our spleen and unleash our most uncharitable thoughts.

I have reported today too under the MN guidelines of sharing misinformation as clearly one current poster is doing. Even when hard evidence is posted, it makes no difference to the lies told.
@Icanthinkformyselfthanks it is not about differing opinions, debate is good, personal experience allows us all to see the point of view of others, evidence and data is essential in backing this up but spreading lies is not beneficial to anyone. This is also supposed to be against MN guidance.

The poster I reported is also derailing threads. They end up being unconnected to the OP’s question/dilemma and taken over the PP’s views and lies. No challenge accepted by the PP where it is clear research or data supports a different view, just a ‘dig down’ or a change of tac onto the next point to make.

MN will lose its audience if posters such as the one I have mentioned are allowed to take over.

Exactly The rise of the far right is because the main parties are ignoring the concerns of people. So they are turning elsewhere for solutions. Of course they might not get solutions or the solutions might be worse than the problems.

Oh wouldn't it just. I've got a huge list just waiting to go on it. It would certainly help with filtering out repetitive words and phrases. As for the boring troll and bot hunting. Yes please MNHQ.

Have you read 'This is Not Propeganda'? It's a really interesting book about bots and trolls and misinformation. The writer went out and visited literal offices full of people who are 'trolls for hire' - a lot of them sponsored by various governments or political parties to support their views (the one the writer visited was paid for by the Kremlin). These professional trolls are paid to go on well trafficked sites and spread certain perspectives and views which are in the interests of those paying.

I am absolutely certain a number will be active on this site as one of the most well trafficked sites in the UK. I've noticed similar patterns to a lot of these posts. It wouldn't surprise me one iota if Mr Farage (for example) spent a bit of Reform's recent £74m windfall employing a few trolls of his own and this is just the type of site they'd be able to make a lot of impact. Post repeatedly with different usernames filling whole threads with posts seemingly from different people but all amounting to the same thing. Make regular people active on the site think these are 'normal' views everyone else holds.

I pointed this out on a thread earlier and MY post was removed as apparently troll hunting isn't allowed? Beggars belief really.
