Virus scam appearing only when on Mumsnet

Just wondering if anyone else has had this?
As in the title I'm getting frequent "warnings", supposedly from McAfee, claiming I've got various viruses and inviting me to click a link (not done of course)

I don't use McAfee anyway and they're not from them - their site has images of a common scam which matches these - but it only happens when I'm clicked onto Mumsnet

Anyone know what's happening by any chance?

It’s been better for me today. Not getting the freeze/crash thing that it was doing almost constantly a few days back. Still get a momentary pause, a second or two, before the rest of the page loads, but ok after that. Don’t think it’s done anything dodgy to me yet today (touch wood)

Oh dear, it's back after a night 'off'. I was hopeful that it had been fixed after reading the glitches thread, but it seems not.

I installed an adblocker after my last post, not a single problem since. I feel bad that MN isn't getting any revenue from me, but the site had become unusable. I'll be happy to remove it when I know it's functioning normally again

My VPN is also still doing the trick - not had a single occurrence since activating it.

Just had the fake Mcaffee one pop up.
I was on the thread about people being rude to retail works, It appeared in the same tab, not a new tab or pop up.

The fake McAfee is starting again, after a week or more of peace and smooth running. Annoying.

So I've not been on this thread in a while, as I installed an ad blocker which sorted it out. However I see that mumsnet have a problem with this, and are now introducing a consent or pay model. So helpful of them 😡

I had the fake Macafee virus warning just now. Using lastest version of Chrome on Windows 11.

So this has been going on for four months now, with no end in sight, and MNHQ has basically called those of us who use an ad blocker because of this scam freeloaders . . .

I'm probably tempting fate, but since I blocked the one web site I thought was the source of this I haven't had problems with fake virus scam hijack.

If this is the real reason and I was able to identify it, why cant MNHQ?

This is the web address I asked firefox to block:

and it is possible that you only need the bit from .amazon

This isn't a real amazon site and is listed as a scam site.

Hi there @IwantToRetire. Thanks for letting us know about this. We've blocked several sites that were causing this problem but we've added this one to the list now, too.

I've just had it pop up for me again. I was on the Blake Lively thread in AIBU.

VPN still holding it off nicely.

I've had this as well - McAffee scam and says your machine is about to be scanned. The first part of the web address I can see is as follows, it's much longer but it won't let me cut and paste it so I've typed it out manually.

I've had the scam pop-up again twice - yesterday and this morning.

I've just had the virus scam thing pop up again while browsing Mumsnet. Don't know it its connected to this site but will keep an eye on it.

This has popped up about 3 times today for me too, @HebeMumsnet.

Just had it again. Still on iPhone/safari. Thread in Active, AIBU.

I’ve just had this. I was on https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_litter_tray/5362275-the-one-after-the-one-where-the-excellent-cats-posed-for-a-calendar?page=15&reply=145586391 & didn’t click on any ads as far as I know. I’m using Chrome on an iPhone 13 mini.
