miserable mumsnetters and MY mental health!

makemyday · 04/03/2008 22:16

I love mumsnet or, at least, I did until recently...
but there are two posters who really give me the groan factor whenever I see their names appear..I know they are never going to say anything remotely positive about anything. And its irritating the way they try to focus the thread's attention on themselves with each post they make. Its really depressing to see their names crop half way through my enjoyment of reading a good debate or a chatty thread.
So my question is...can I block posts from these specific people so that I dont have to read their posts on a thread, at least until they change their name? At the moment, I can only avoid those threads that they start.

They really are depressing and if I didn't have to go to an enormous effort to try and avoid their clouds of doom and gloom because they weren't there to read, mumsnet would be easier and more enjoyable!

FAQ · 04/03/2008 22:16

hmm - let me guess - one of them is me [frown]

Scattybird · 04/03/2008 22:17

I would go to Netmums if I were you. It's much more civilised and nobody is allowed to say anything against anyone.

dragonbutter · 04/03/2008 22:18

is it me?
not sure there's anything you can do tbh.

Carmenere · 04/03/2008 22:19

No you can't so tough. If you don't like it, well you know what to do. Some posters are having a tough time and might be a bit down and mn might be their only outlet. that might be you one day.

Carmenere · 04/03/2008 22:20

And anyway I can't think of anyone who is miserable all the time.

stuffitllama · 04/03/2008 22:20

what if they/we come on here?
does faq count because she tried to focus the attention on herself right from the start?

(ps hope you get an answer and really really really hope your mental heath is not at risk over this)

dragonbutter · 04/03/2008 22:21

some threads are quite negative and probably attract negative posters. Equally there are much more positive threads.

FAQ · 04/03/2008 22:21

of course I count it was me me me

Right who was the other one............

theyoungvisiter · 04/03/2008 22:22

hmm... couldn't you just skim over their posts and think "well thank goodness I'm not in such a dark place"?

Mumsnet isn't meant to be all about fun and games ya know

TotalChaos · 04/03/2008 22:22

if your mental health really is affected, then time to step away from this website!

Lulumama · 04/03/2008 22:22

i thikn threads like this are pointless, everyone who has posted a long saga of something upsetting will feel bad , guilty and afraid of posting any more.

just avoid the threads and look at the thousands of other posts on here.... if it is only two posters, mumsnet is big enough to avoid them

VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 22:26

I think the easy option is to just fark off

Greensleeves · 04/03/2008 22:27

I think your situation would be best addressed by you sticking it where the monkey sticks his nuts.

Off you pop

VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 22:28
VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 22:29

fark

guitar

That'll learn me to have one eye on MN and one eye on Rambo

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 04/03/2008 22:29

Close the door on your way out.

I am mainly at the happy end of MN, last night I needed reassurance and support, I got it.

Sorry if I bothered you .

So allow me to hold the door for you as you leave.

stuffitllama · 04/03/2008 22:30

oh don't be horrible to her

makemyday -- just groan and move on, I should think almost everyone has a "heartsink" name or too they'd rather not come across

but y'know it's not such a big deal

morningpaper · 04/03/2008 22:30

lolol

Greensleeves · 04/03/2008 22:30

I am DEFINITELY one of the posters she means, I clogged up a journalism thread earlier by posting my 25,000,000 word horrific birth story

What I want to know is - who the fuck is the other poster? [threatened]

stuffitllama · 04/03/2008 22:31

lgj x posted meant for all the farker-offers

theyoungvisiter · 04/03/2008 22:31

now if they could invent an automatic cod translator, that really would be a boon to mumnetkind.

FAQ · 04/03/2008 22:32

Well that's sorted then Greensleeves it's thee and me

Greensleeves · 04/03/2008 22:33

One of us must die FAQ, this board ain't jolly enough for the both of us
