About women pointing out that the culture of immigrants is relevant when it comes to the attacks of women in host countries.

Women who just want to be able to name the problem. If we can't name the problem then we can't protect other women from harm.

A whole group of men do not deserve to be called out for it because of the colour of their skin and the region they are from. Well because, that’s racist. Isn’t it?

USA has a poorer human rights record than we do. Death penalty. Police brutality is fatal. Abortion bans. Gun culture. Higher rates of violent crime. No federal minimum age for marriage- yes forced child marriage exists there.

You have told me I don't understand racism.

And you are now really illustrating that you don't understand it.

I have not once said that immigrants pose a greater harm to women than non immigrants.

I have simply said that it is impossible to have a discussion about harms to women if we can't call out the reasons for it.

You are perfectly fine, I assume, with me calling out the reasons why white men might hate women, perfectly fine with me discussing what it is about UK culture that causes men from the UK to rape and abuse women but you are NOT ok with discussing the cultural reasons that immigrants might do the equivalent.

You think it is racist to point out these cultural reasons. You have said that people who do so are uneducated or like pork.

Someone, I don't know if it was you, seems to excuse the behaviour of migrants because the countries they come from 'need to catch up on human rights'.

Why are you treating immigrants as a sacred caste. Why can't we talk about the reasons why groups of immigrant males have behaved in the way they have both in the past (in my lived experience in Paris) and more recently in Cologne in the context of the areas and cultures these men migrated from?

If we want to learn about how to protect women we can't look at males as a group without considering the social and cultural backgrounds of the perpetrators. I'm not sure why immigrant status changes anything.

But go ahead call me racist and uneducated.

Honestly though the biggest impact on the rights of British women isn't cat calling. It is poverty. Do middle class white girls living in London (even those right next to a council estate) going to private school or a comp in a genteel area get preyed upon by gangs of men, foreign or otherwise. No, it is always poor girls. always.their parents are too stressed with cost of living issues or they otherwise come from chaotic backgrounds so they are easy prey. I live in London and I do not recognize anything that is on this thread, from foreign men or otherwise. I am lucky to live in a safe area. But I do see poverty on the streets and there are many homeless women who are extremely easy prey.

Now with cost of living issues, this is going to increase. What I find more worrying is the number of women who would be forced into sex work if we no longer have a welfare state or the NHS. There is a phenomenon in Korea where elderly women have to be prostitutes if they are poor. I can see this happening in the UK if there is no state pension which is a distinct possibility. if the NHS gets even worse, there would be mothers selling their bodies to pay for cancer treatment for their sick kids.these are the issues I would rather focus upon... The government wants us to focus on these foreign men who are coming over and apparently would hurt us. Ok maybe some of them are less than exemplary.

But I think that many poorer women might be forced to have sex for food and to pay the gas bills anyway so I think the catcalling and harassment alleged by some here isn't as serious as that..
