MN very slow and keep getting this error message

Been having problems with mn this morning, it is horrendously slow and then I keep getting this error message as well
Not sure if it is just me
I am on iPad safari using desktop (because I cannot access the mobile site)

It’s so strange.
I use much much more heavy traffic websites, as I’m sure we all do, and never any problems.

And yet mumsnet fairly frequently gets them.

Seems odd that the same issues have been happening for a few days, but aren't connected. Could you explain what was causing the issues in the last few days if not DDOS?

It's a thread about politics 50/50 in fwr. Usually when fwr is mentioned someone groans and whines about having blocked the whole subject and why are feminists allowed all over the site/cant we stay in our lane etc. Its only my opinion btw that that thread started the DDOS, that thread got heated and it looks like swiss cheese now too. But the point I guess is still there.

Just says glad it’s working - refers to this morning. Mine is still not working. Maybe it’s to make us all upgrade to premium🤷‍♀️

Well we do have quite a lot of legacy code (which we are working our way to fix) so there's a fair amount of complexity that some newer sites don't have and in actual fact we suffer ddos attacks pretty much every month - very few actually bring the site down like this one but it does happen. Even Google was down a couple of weeks ago.

All websites go down occasionally, but I've never known a website go down as much as this, nor suffer from as many DDOS attacks as this - or at least, DDOS attacks that have this much impact.

It's worrying.

They frequently get ddos'd because men get angry about women discussing things, especially to do with their sex based rights.

I have been getting a message which vanishes before I can copy it.

Every so often it stops the page loading and says something like 'Wait while we check something or other' before loading the page.

So, do we need to change passwords again?

And - why is it frowned upon by MN tech to use protonmail for e.mails?

Agree it's suspicious that there is a ddos attack just after a very interesting and illuminating thread on FWR (now turned into swiss cheese due to deletions, unfortunately)

"The watchers" don't like us pesky women talking to each other, I guess!
