MN very slow and keep getting this error message

Been having problems with mn this morning, it is horrendously slow and then I keep getting this error message as well
Not sure if it is just me
I am on iPad safari using desktop (because I cannot access the mobile site)

Yes getting either the cloudfare message then error and lots of writing or can get on (seems to load better on Firefox than chrome) but couldn't get the sign in page up on Firefox

So a DDOS attack is carried out by a group of people?

Its using lots of machines via a botnet but it can be just one person that kicks it off type thing

No other website suffers from DDOS attacks like this.

They need to upgrade their security and spend more on the tech side of things. The content here is great but the tech side is like a forum from about 2005.

I don't think that's true - most sites suffer ddos attacks - some big companies pretty much all the time - they don't always admit to it though.

I agree with this, I think a certain thread caused this DDOS as it happens. Some people sure do have a thing about subjects being discussed more, almost like theres something to hide 🤷‍♀️

Yes, in a way. This has happened several times before. I was here when Geoffrey attacked and stole personal details.

MN need to upgrade their tech. Especially now they have the premium feature. It’s not on to keep this as a kitchen table site anymore.

Well we do have quite a lot of legacy code (which we are working our way to fix) so there's a fair amount of complexity that some newer sites don't have and in actual fact we suffer ddos attacks pretty much every month - very few actually bring the site down like this one but it does happen. Even Google was down a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe we see it on mn because we’re on it so much!

I have been here through a few hacks, and left a few times too because of them.

Always aware that there is a lot of stuff on here that I am not happy about, the amount of things that show up on Brave are interesting, tracker wise etc.

The constant need to select/deselect when signing in is also not a good thing. I am always remind that I am being watched when I see that, and how much.

Me too. Been happening for a few days now. Only got worse yesterday and today. Been off the site for ages again trying to get back on.
