Hi all,
We've released a new quote feature (finally you might say). I've attached some screenshots to show you where it's housed on site. Please give it a go so we can check it's working ok for all and across devices. We've taken the decision not to include threading for now - both because it would have been a lot more dev time and because it can affect the flow of conversations but this is something we can revisit in time if folks prefer. Please do let us know what you think/ further improvements etc. Big thanks.

Can’t think of many times I’d want to quote the whole post, but can’t seem to see how to quote only a section of it unfortunately.

Hi MrsWooster, it should in theory be restricted to single-level quotes. We'll check what's going on there as it seems someone has quoted a message with a quote.
It would be nice if the quotation could be date/time stamped. If someone has included a quotation then their post doesn't have the quote button. Is it meant to be like that? Also, I don't always want to quote someone's whole post, maybe just a section, but that doesn't seem possible with this.

Looks alright - can’t quote from posts that have a quote in itself, and can’t cut the quote, which is a real snag. It’s rare you’d ever quote a whole post, you’d just quote a line or two. I don’t see myself using the feature if it has to be the whole post every time

Do we think allowing sections might be open to mischief-making? Like I post "I wouldn't say that Jimmy is evil exactly" and someone quotes me saying "Jimmy is evil." Stuff like that? Dunno.

But that is possible at the moment and doesn't seem to be abused.

No different to now though, If you’re just copy pasting, people can always pick out the bit they want. And if you only want to respond to a portion of the text you wouldn’t to quote an entire long post

Don't think so...plus the post quoted is there. The person being quoted or a sharp eye can easily tell that's not what was said and will raise an alarm.

Think it would be good to quote parts as well as all posts if needed.

Good question. Surely there can't be justification for charging for premium if access to new features is for everyone. Thus creating a 2 tier site.

okay here ... mmm , I think I would rarely use this , but a handy tool for certain occasions

can you not have it so you can partially quote?

Hi, the quote option is greyed out if you can't quote that message - like if it already has a quote in it.

You can't. The quote button is greyed out when a post has a quote in it.
