Hello, you. Well, 2017 has been a corker of a year for Talk threads at Mumsnet. The constant flurry of brilliant threads you've posted on the boards has kept us enthralled all year. We've laughed, we've cried, we've sat, mouths agape, while our tea went cold as we followed your stories.

Mumsnetters never fail to delight with their wit, wisdom, endless support and clever rhetoric and this year we'd like to celebrate that.

Just to nudge the memory banks we thought we'd share these two beauties from Mumsnet Classics.

Help. Epic hotel choice failure - the one where two esteemed Mumsnetters discovered each other, at the same dire hotel, via this thread, and later painted the town red.

My foof is buzzing- the one with the sentences you never thought you'd write (as well as vaginas with the voice of Brian Blessed and discussion of Banjo Fanjo Syndrome in the 'lady of a certain age').

Those were just a couple of our favourites but we would love to hear about the threads you loved most this year. Please post a link below and tell us a bit about why the thread in question was one that stands out for you.

They don't have to be funny - we're also looking for threads that were tear-jerkers, had happy endings, kept you scrolling into the small hours or were just plain lovely.

You can pluck your nominations from any topic but here are the categories we've come up with so far - if you think we've missed a category, please do feel free to suggest one of your own. Before anyone asks - we're afraid we won't be handing out mugs for any troll threads (nope, not even the ones that were a tiny bit funny). We can't have MNHQ mugs in hairy hands - perish the thought:

Cheeky Fucker thread of the year
Best AIBU
Feel-good thread of the year
Most outrageous thread of the year
Most nostalgic thread of the year
Most memorable moment of the year
Outstanding moment of Mumsnetter kindness on a thread

We can't wait to hear your nominations. We will have a scrat in the office cupboard and dig out some (much coveted) MNHQ mugs for each winning OP (or significant poster) of a Thread of the Year. And to show our appreciation we'll also find something else lovely from our Magic Cupboard for a selection of lucky people drawn at random who post on this thread to make a nomination. .

To celebrate the unique space that is Mumsnet Talk, MNHQ would love you to share your Threads of the Year!

Westministenders threads and Redtoothbrush from me too. It’s a light in the darkness 😀

missmoon · 25/12/2017 14:48

Another vote for the Westministenders thread and RedToothBrush from me!

Hasenstein · 25/12/2017 14:51

RedToothBrush and Westminstenders keep me coming back for my daily dose of humour, information and insight. Would feel bereft without it.

QuestaVecchiaCasa · 25/12/2017 15:00

Westministenders threads for me too.

I've already urged my MP, the prospective Labour party candidate and my Dad to read them.

Thanks to RTB, LH, Big Choc, Woman, Bigley, Hester et al (apologies to those I've missed) for all that you do.

BiglyBadgers · 25/12/2017 15:15

Of course we love the Westminstenders threads. Also a shout out for the Trump threads. Both deserve awards for services to humanity in this time of general crazy! Grin

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 25/12/2017 15:35

Datun - nominate her for fantastic explanations, calmness under fire & generally being amazing.

CardinalSin · 25/12/2017 15:54

Another vote here for RedToothBrush and Westminstenders...

HobbitS · 25/12/2017 15:57

Vote for Westminenders & RedToothBrush Star

lalalonglegs · 25/12/2017 16:15

I would be curled up in a ball and rocking slowly if it weren't for Westminstenders and RedToothBrush - thank you to all the posters on those threads for their wisdom and humour. They should be required reading for MPs.

One question, Mumsnet: even when there is some event that means the WM threads start getting 150 posts an hour, they never show up on "Trending" or "Discussions of the Day". Why is that?

BigChocFrenzy · 25/12/2017 17:01

RedToothBrush's Westministenders threads.
So informative in these hectic times

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 25/12/2017 17:10

lala They do show up in Active quite a lot.

RhuBarbarella · 25/12/2017 18:15

I would like to give a vote for RedToothBrush and the Westministenders threads too. She's a star and kept me both sane and informed in a most turbulent year. Of course it's not just her but all the regular and irregular posters... she's the thread's fairy godmother or something like that. A vote anyway!

HermioneAndTheSniffle · 25/12/2017 20:44

RTB and the woman westministers threads.
These threads have carried on and in since befire the referendum and are a constant source if knowledge (and sometimes laughter too!)

birdbandit · 25/12/2017 21:31

Nominate Datun as many of you have done, not just for her patience, her tenacity and knowledge, but also for her kindness towards women directly affected by the Trans issues. Thank you. X

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 25/12/2017 21:38

I'd also like to nominate the Archers threads - running for more than three years now with almost nary a cross word.

unenthusiasticfuturedancemom · 25/12/2017 22:49

I'd like to nominate this one too...

a letter to the woman who called me a terfwww.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3108929-a-letter-to-the-woman-who-called-me-a-terf

MsHooliesCardigan · 26/12/2017 06:11

Has nobody nominated the Brexit Arms threads? Wink

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/12/2017 08:30

Oh YES.

FionaJT · 26/12/2017 09:56

Another vote here for Westminstenders. I've been (mostly) lurking since the start - essential reading, and a little ray of sanity.

Bananagio · 26/12/2017 12:44

Redtoothbrushs Westminstender thread gets my vote. A place of sanity, information and a massively reassuring reminder to me (as a migrant in the EU) that there are plenty of fellow Brits who feel as European as I do.

Headfullofdreams · 26/12/2017 13:31

Another vote for Westminstenders and redtoothbrush.

WifeofDarth · 26/12/2017 13:38

Another vote for RTB and the Westminstenders, makes me anxious but very informative

guardianfree · 26/12/2017 14:42

Yet another nomination for the Westminstenders threads and RedToothBrush. Amazing analysis - puts the quality of much journalism to shame.
Also yes to the Spartacus threads and the subsequent analysis on the FWR boards. Massively important in terms of women's and children's rights and safety.
Maybe not the 'fluffy' nominations you were originally thinking of MNHQ but so very important.

woman11017 · 26/12/2017 15:22

I'd like to nominate the RedToothBrush's Westminstenders thread and the FeminismChat* threads; both have taught me loads.

NoCryingInEngineering · 26/12/2017 15:34

Both Westminsterenders and the Trump threads have been fantastic this year
