Hello, you. Well, 2017 has been a corker of a year for Talk threads at Mumsnet. The constant flurry of brilliant threads you've posted on the boards has kept us enthralled all year. We've laughed, we've cried, we've sat, mouths agape, while our tea went cold as we followed your stories.

Mumsnetters never fail to delight with their wit, wisdom, endless support and clever rhetoric and this year we'd like to celebrate that.

Just to nudge the memory banks we thought we'd share these two beauties from Mumsnet Classics.

Help. Epic hotel choice failure - the one where two esteemed Mumsnetters discovered each other, at the same dire hotel, via this thread, and later painted the town red.

My foof is buzzing- the one with the sentences you never thought you'd write (as well as vaginas with the voice of Brian Blessed and discussion of Banjo Fanjo Syndrome in the 'lady of a certain age').

Those were just a couple of our favourites but we would love to hear about the threads you loved most this year. Please post a link below and tell us a bit about why the thread in question was one that stands out for you.

They don't have to be funny - we're also looking for threads that were tear-jerkers, had happy endings, kept you scrolling into the small hours or were just plain lovely.

You can pluck your nominations from any topic but here are the categories we've come up with so far - if you think we've missed a category, please do feel free to suggest one of your own. Before anyone asks - we're afraid we won't be handing out mugs for any troll threads (nope, not even the ones that were a tiny bit funny). We can't have MNHQ mugs in hairy hands - perish the thought:

Cheeky Fucker thread of the year
Best AIBU
Feel-good thread of the year
Most outrageous thread of the year
Most nostalgic thread of the year
Most memorable moment of the year
Outstanding moment of Mumsnetter kindness on a thread

We can't wait to hear your nominations. We will have a scrat in the office cupboard and dig out some (much coveted) MNHQ mugs for each winning OP (or significant poster) of a Thread of the Year. And to show our appreciation we'll also find something else lovely from our Magic Cupboard for a selection of lucky people drawn at random who post on this thread to make a nomination. .

To celebrate the unique space that is Mumsnet Talk, MNHQ would love you to share your Threads of the Year!

Can I nominate 2?

BIWI for her low carb bootcamp, massive support threads.
Ohyoubadbadkitten for her VERY accurate weather forecasting.

Agreatbigbushybeard · 15/12/2017 21:03

Oh look, the Redditors are being soooo clever with their Milton posts and snide comments.

For people who profess to hate trolling you certainly do enough of it yourselves.

Grow up.

happychange · 15/12/2017 21:06

Thread where a poster named her kitten Keith, after cat thief Keith

Kpo58 · 15/12/2017 21:12

Can we nominate threads that have been deleted due to the 90 day rule?

My favourite thread of the year was deleted because of this. Sad

Thinking back over the year on MN I mostly think of Zombie.

But the feel-good thread of the year was right at the beginning of January, with the return of Blue Bunny.

Aridane · 15/12/2017 21:19

The House of Fraser shit advent calendar one

Aridane · 15/12/2017 21:25

Sorry - category could either be CF (with HoF being the CF) or feel good (because it’s funny)

Aridane · 15/12/2017 21:26

Feel goodmthread - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3089485-Does-anyone-else-have-a-very-encouraging-toddler

Unfortunately it’s in. Chat and will soon disappear

When I read the OP, the first thread which sprang to mind was Watty's battle with the CF builder/neighbours, featuring Spangran, the man from the corner shop and the Russian connection.
So that one Smile

Butteredparsn1ps · 15/12/2017 22:17

The recent No Janet, you don't own... had me shaking with laughter. Proper Mumsnet humour.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/12/2017 22:35

Blush GloriaSmud also does a lot on weather too.

I’d like to nominate the Trump watch threads, there are many regulars on there who do the research so we don’t have to.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/12/2017 23:51

span gran and the listed window thread for cheeky fucker...

BoucleJacket · 15/12/2017 23:58

Well said GlitteryStag - that thread was tasteless in the extreme.

ScreamingValenta · 16/12/2017 00:01

Agree with Boucle and Glittery - very upsetting thread.

SassySausageSupper · 16/12/2017 00:31

I can’t find the thread or remember the usernamr but the epic NDN from hell thread about the elderly interfering couple are my nominees for CF of the year... can anyone point me to the thread?

BoucleJacket · 16/12/2017 00:57

Nailing my flag to the mast here:

One wonders why MN are doing this.
They didn't do it before.

Are they hoping to generate Daily Fail fodder?

Surely not.

That would be awful wouldn't it?

BoucleJacket · 16/12/2017 01:00

And really, those of you who fell for the patio doors thread?
Aren't you embarrassed?

BoucleJacket · 16/12/2017 01:07

And one last thing before I go:

How amusing that this thread has generated very little interest out of the supposed millions of unique new users every month?

Or am I misunderstanding the figures quoted on the "word of Advice" thread?

I know I'm not good with numbers and statistics etc. but something isn't adding up?

Happy to be educated here...

AlpacaLypse · 16/12/2017 01:27

Patio doors, if only for @SchadenfreudePersonified 's Vlad and Vanka contributions.

smeerf · 16/12/2017 01:41

MortalEnemy's situation with my colleague is a romance for the ages! Should definitely get some recognition.

FTCF (flexi time cf) is my fav CF for the follow up thread where her mum decided to make OP a handbag latte.

ohfourfoxache · 16/12/2017 01:56

Any chance that an outstanding contribution award could be renamed? Perhaps it could be called the Zombie Keith Award in memory of two incredible posters Thanks

In the same vein, I’d love to see the Wooly Hugs organisers receiving an award. Truly MN at it’s best - and something we can all be proud of

ScaryMary81 · 16/12/2017 02:04

What we're reading:
Most heartbreaking lines from a book ever...66

Loved this thread, ended up reading the original versions of the happy prince and little mermaid with ds, which helped him understand comprehension and truly feel the stories and instil a passion for reading
