Hello, you. Well, 2017 has been a corker of a year for Talk threads at Mumsnet. The constant flurry of brilliant threads you've posted on the boards has kept us enthralled all year. We've laughed, we've cried, we've sat, mouths agape, while our tea went cold as we followed your stories.

Mumsnetters never fail to delight with their wit, wisdom, endless support and clever rhetoric and this year we'd like to celebrate that.

Just to nudge the memory banks we thought we'd share these two beauties from Mumsnet Classics.

Help. Epic hotel choice failure - the one where two esteemed Mumsnetters discovered each other, at the same dire hotel, via this thread, and later painted the town red.

My foof is buzzing- the one with the sentences you never thought you'd write (as well as vaginas with the voice of Brian Blessed and discussion of Banjo Fanjo Syndrome in the 'lady of a certain age').

Those were just a couple of our favourites but we would love to hear about the threads you loved most this year. Please post a link below and tell us a bit about why the thread in question was one that stands out for you.

They don't have to be funny - we're also looking for threads that were tear-jerkers, had happy endings, kept you scrolling into the small hours or were just plain lovely.

You can pluck your nominations from any topic but here are the categories we've come up with so far - if you think we've missed a category, please do feel free to suggest one of your own. Before anyone asks - we're afraid we won't be handing out mugs for any troll threads (nope, not even the ones that were a tiny bit funny). We can't have MNHQ mugs in hairy hands - perish the thought:

Cheeky Fucker thread of the year
Best AIBU
Feel-good thread of the year
Most outrageous thread of the year
Most nostalgic thread of the year
Most memorable moment of the year
Outstanding moment of Mumsnetter kindness on a thread

We can't wait to hear your nominations. We will have a scrat in the office cupboard and dig out some (much coveted) MNHQ mugs for each winning OP (or significant poster) of a Thread of the Year. And to show our appreciation we'll also find something else lovely from our Magic Cupboard for a selection of lucky people drawn at random who post on this thread to make a nomination. .

To celebrate the unique space that is Mumsnet Talk, MNHQ would love you to share your Threads of the Year!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome, the doting grandad. Xmas Smile

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/12/2017 14:47

I have just re-read Disgrace's thread and would also like to nominate it.

Such joy

(I may have sobbed a little)

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 20/12/2017 14:52

Amber0685 · 20/12/2017 15:46

The lady who was locked in her house with 2 dogs while dp was at work

Christinayangstwistedsista · 20/12/2017 16:00

derxa · 20/12/2017 16:39

Yes loved Disgrace's thread.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 20/12/2017 19:35

The Trump threads, for the inventive parody.
The Zombie and CTK threads, for the kindness.
Stupid Injuries: not even I can compete with some of the maimings

I thought the Spangran CFN thread was an obvious troll thread/creative writing Shock

I’d also like to nominate Helenadove if a ‘service’ category is included.

SantaClauseMightWork · 21/12/2017 22:27

Westministenders and RedToothBrush.
May government can select many a posters from that thread, RTB on top, considering that they are in dire need of brains.

Aridane · 22/12/2017 10:14

Bah humbug - but I can't stand the CF threads any more (am with some of the grumpier posters on this thread - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3117602-Cheeky-Fuckers-Of-The-Year-Awards?msgid=74237185#74237185 )

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 22/12/2017 12:40

Another lovely feel-good thread (seasonal too!)

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 22/12/2017 18:20

Please don't award a 'cheeky fucker' thread of the year. They're getting more and more far-fetched and the last thing we need is people creating them in the hope of winning an award!

GimbleInTheWabe · 23/12/2017 08:18

Totally has to be NoCapes GEG thread for most feel good! I'm pretty sure she's now expecting their own little GEGlet too! That was such a great thread to watch unfold and gave me the warm fuzzies.

Thirtyrock39 · 23/12/2017 14:49

The one about the neighbours rotary washing line and the jokey one about 'haven't read the full thread' both I think are already in the classics already though
I always remember the ones when people are convinced they're right then get pulled apart- such as the stepmum wanting to move the dad and their kids 100s of miles from the dad's kids, mum who's toddler was screaming in a national trust tea room in the summer and was asked to leave and the mum who's kid got a 'bad look' for picking someone's daffodil!! To me these are what MN is all about- situations where in real life you would nod and bite your tongue but on here you can be terribly blunt !

derxa · 23/12/2017 16:19

mum who's toddler was screaming in a national trust tea room in the summer Yes that was a good one.

thenightsky · 23/12/2017 21:24

Not a thread but a whole section...

Style and Beauty.

It doesn't matter if your budget is £20 or £20k, posters are always helpful and lovely. There is no bitching and nastiness. S&B is a haven.

MsHooliesCardigan · 24/12/2017 02:44

Another vote for RedToothBrush and the Westministenders threads and the Trump threads. There are awesomely knowledgeable people on those threads who put most journalists to shame.

whitehandledkitchenknife · 24/12/2017 13:43

I nominate the Feminism Chat thread and the patient, articulate posters therein for outstanding services to women and girls.

AtSea1979 · 24/12/2017 23:59

The one where someone collected a cat from the other end of the country.

everythingisempty · 25/12/2017 00:42

Definitely the one about song lyrics people have misheard and sung incorrectly their whole lives.
Most memorable: you're gonna have to face it you're as thick as you look! I howled so loudly with laughter, I woke my husband up!

Alwaysinmyheart · 25/12/2017 00:43

So agree that S&B is a little haven of knowledge, joy and kindness. It's my ( and many others) happy place!

Also, the feminism boards are awesome. My god, the intellect, wisdom, passion and courage on there. Stunning. I seriously don't know if there is another place on the Internet for that level of debate. Mumsnetters, you should be proud that you have enabled this place to exist. It's SO important. And, the amount of women who never post but are reading it. It's much more influential than you will ever know. Thank you for this.

GaspodeWonderCat · 25/12/2017 14:24

Another vote for RTB and Westminenders thread for threads of the year.

CFN - watty, patio doors & span gran - for all the flags.

HashiAsLarry · 25/12/2017 14:33

CF award has to go to watty and the patio doors/span gran/Ken etc.

Redtoothbrushs Westminstenders threads have kept me sane, and ive learnt so much. Another nomination here from me.

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 25/12/2017 14:43

As I said on my first post in the Westminstenders threads, they are the only place on the whole internet where you can get a decent discussion of the Brexit fallout. So they certainly deserve recognition.
