Hello, you. Well, 2017 has been a corker of a year for Talk threads at Mumsnet. The constant flurry of brilliant threads you've posted on the boards has kept us enthralled all year. We've laughed, we've cried, we've sat, mouths agape, while our tea went cold as we followed your stories.

Mumsnetters never fail to delight with their wit, wisdom, endless support and clever rhetoric and this year we'd like to celebrate that.

Just to nudge the memory banks we thought we'd share these two beauties from Mumsnet Classics.

Help. Epic hotel choice failure - the one where two esteemed Mumsnetters discovered each other, at the same dire hotel, via this thread, and later painted the town red.

My foof is buzzing- the one with the sentences you never thought you'd write (as well as vaginas with the voice of Brian Blessed and discussion of Banjo Fanjo Syndrome in the 'lady of a certain age').

Those were just a couple of our favourites but we would love to hear about the threads you loved most this year. Please post a link below and tell us a bit about why the thread in question was one that stands out for you.

They don't have to be funny - we're also looking for threads that were tear-jerkers, had happy endings, kept you scrolling into the small hours or were just plain lovely.

You can pluck your nominations from any topic but here are the categories we've come up with so far - if you think we've missed a category, please do feel free to suggest one of your own. Before anyone asks - we're afraid we won't be handing out mugs for any troll threads (nope, not even the ones that were a tiny bit funny). We can't have MNHQ mugs in hairy hands - perish the thought:

Cheeky Fucker thread of the year
Best AIBU
Feel-good thread of the year
Most outrageous thread of the year
Most nostalgic thread of the year
Most memorable moment of the year
Outstanding moment of Mumsnetter kindness on a thread

We can't wait to hear your nominations. We will have a scrat in the office cupboard and dig out some (much coveted) MNHQ mugs for each winning OP (or significant poster) of a Thread of the Year. And to show our appreciation we'll also find something else lovely from our Magic Cupboard for a selection of lucky people drawn at random who post on this thread to make a nomination. .

To celebrate the unique space that is Mumsnet Talk, MNHQ would love you to share your Threads of the Year!

'Most epic of epics, the thread of threads, have been the Trump threads, of course.
With you since 2016.'

Ah but surely they're runner up to the Westminstenders threads which have been running since.......well, very shortly after the 23rd June 2016.

safariboot · 16/12/2017 02:35

Cheeky Fucker thread of the year, Best AIBU, Most outrageous thread of the year, and Most memorable moment of the year are all the patio door CFN saga, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3071713-CFN-patio-doors-sangria-ken-from-the-shop-update and the many threads before it.

CaptainWarbeck · 16/12/2017 04:57

I nominate @Datun for all her wise, thoughtful, patient and considered input into the feminism board. She deserves a big gold star for explaining concepts simply and effectively. She's brilliant.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 16/12/2017 07:15

Yes to Datun.

And www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2716595-TransAgenda-BullShit-The-I-am-Spartacus-Thread , the first one that led to the Spartacus movement on MN.

FourEyesGood · 16/12/2017 08:11

It doesn’t fit into any of the categories, but the thread about using soap instead of shower gel has changed my life! I no longer stink by noon! I’m sure my colleagues and pupils are as grateful as I am. Grin

DeathByMascara · 16/12/2017 08:25

The loss of CTK doesn’t fit in to any of these categories, but she was mumsnet. That’s what sprung to my mind when I read the OP.

RaininSummer · 16/12/2017 08:57

Yes to Datun for her constantly well expressed and factual responses to questions and debate on the feminist board.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 16/12/2017 08:59

I was nominating www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2716595-TransAgenda-BullShit-The-I-am-Spartacus-Thread for Most Memorable Moment.

Gramgram · 16/12/2017 09:18

The patio doors, SpanGran and the builders thread kept us enthralled during the summer. It was a great thread full of humour, recipes and good advice.

fourpawswhite · 16/12/2017 10:20

I'm usually a dog person but the thread in litter tray can anyone give this sweet girl a home was just lovely. Epic drive from Devon to Durham to give the cat a home. Nomination for kindest award.

User843022 · 16/12/2017 10:34

fourpaws that is so lovely. I like the dog house you just get nice helpful people on those boards. The bulldog chewing a wasp gang don't seem to frequent them 👍

AdaColeman · 16/12/2017 11:00

Although they begin with heartache and loss, they always end with friendships formed, skills and knowledge shared, laughter and kindness overcoming tears, love and joy freely given, so I'd nominate Woolly Hugs threads from Knotty and Pistey as the most heartwarming threads.

derxa · 16/12/2017 11:04

Woolly Hugs are just brilliant. The rest of them... not so sure

AmysTiara · 16/12/2017 11:24

Woolly hugs definitely.
There's some very kind people on mumsnet who will probably get overlooked in favour of numerous fictional cheeky fuckers.

paxillin · 16/12/2017 13:09

Yes, woollyhugs. Every single one of their threads is better than all other threads.

Sairelou · 16/12/2017 13:14

Woolly Hugs definitely need an award. They are outstanding Wine

bookbook · 16/12/2017 14:54

I would also like to nominate Knotty and Pistey for an award for all their hard work on the Woolly Hug threads

PortlyWino · 16/12/2017 15:20

I want to add my nomination for Woolly Hugs. I also think the majority of the CF posts are made up

ReturnOfTheMackYesItIs · 16/12/2017 15:22

Wooley hugs. I also think most CF threads are fiction.

Scorbus · 16/12/2017 15:22

The Spartacus thread that kicked off the tide turning in GC thought on MN. The whole FWR topic has been informative, well discussed and a wealth of support.

Monstamio · 16/12/2017 15:22

Datun and Woolly Hugs

reynoldsnumber · 16/12/2017 15:48

What does CF stand for?

KenForPM · 16/12/2017 16:03

CF: cheeky fucker.

FlashTheSloth · 16/12/2017 16:36

CatThiefKeith. So heartbreaking.

NoCapes and the GEG. I wonder if the baby will have green eyes!

That SpanGran rubbish that dragged on for 10 threads was total nonsense. No idea why that was so popular.

I'm always amazing by the Wooly Hugs.

The MNetter sorting the wedding dress was so gracious and the bride was such an ungrateful cow.

reynoldsnumber · 16/12/2017 18:01

Ah ok. Thanks. So these are -

CFN cheeky fucker neighbour
FYCF flexi time cheeky fucker
