You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

OP posts:

'Different views' and 'unpleasant opinions' do not = hate speech

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 14:51

Absolutely.
A site for parents by parents unless you are disabled or your child is - then it's not for you!

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 14:52

exactly.

PMs calling you a cunt are personal attacks rather than "unpleasant opinions"

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 14:53

I also know of quite a few Muslim posters who have been driven away for same reason.

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 14:54

Weekend moderation is practically non existent which is not good on such a huge forum

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 10/07/2017 14:55

I'll repost this here:

Which begs the questions:

Why are we repeatedly seeing it?
Why are HQ leaving it unchallenged?
Why do HQ force those this is aimed at to educate?

Do we ever get these questioins answered?

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 14:58

Because 'diverse, unpleasant' opinions are aok. As is hate speech 🙄

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 14:59

as I said before though, I feel MNHQ have set out their stance with Justines post and I don't think they will change it, so have decided i have to put up or leave.

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 15:00

after being told that many times before.

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 15:00

Exactly, zzzz

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 15:00

I'll never stop agitating for change. That's probably my ASD 😂

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 10/07/2017 15:01

Following the fastest reread known to womankind, I stand by everything I said on that thread in November.

Which was largely about transactivism and Paris lees, not disabilism?

shinynewusername · 10/07/2017 15:02

Example: on thread about wheelchair space on bus, post stating "buggies are the same as wheelchairs and have just as much right to use the space" is reported. It is clearly disablist because it seeks to justify using a space provided npby law for wheelchair users and thus is significantly to the detriment of people in wheelchairs. It us thus a clear breach if the DDA

As a carer for an adult wheelchair user, I totally disagree with that buggies have the same right to use w/c spaces in buses, for all the obvious reasons.

However it does not follow from that the MN is somehow breaching the Equality Act (which has now largely replaced the DDA) by allowing discussion of the topic. It's not hate speech to discuss disabled rights and, as PPs have said, it can be useful in challenging posters who hold disabilist views.

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 15:03

good on ya Bishop Flowers

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 15:04

its hate speech to single out users and call them "cunts" and "assholes" though and to tell them they think their disability makes them special

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 15:04

It's useful for some things 😉

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 15:04

yes..DD is the most dogged person I ever met. I don't even bother trying to stop her if she is determined Grin

Polter · 10/07/2017 15:05

It's not about 'having the stomach' it's about believing MNHQ have got our backs when we challenge ableism, it's really that simple.

Importantly perhaps, we don't have a right to free speech in the UK, what we say and what we write can be censored and censured, and rightly so.

SumThucker · 10/07/2017 15:05

Absolutely.
A site for parents by parents unless you are disabled or your child is - then it's not for you!

I really hope not. I've been here 4 years, my two year old is being currently assessed for autism and I'd be devastated if some arseholes put me off posting. Suppose I'll have my eyes opened now though Sad

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 10/07/2017 15:05

It's also hate speach on threads to say that ADHD is the place holder diagnoses given to child criminals who are too young for prision.

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 15:05

As is 'well you wanted equality so have it'

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 10/07/2017 15:07

Coudl someone report my posts with questions, ask MNHQ to read them then give a reply?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 10/07/2017 15:08

"place holder diagnoses given to child criminals who are too young for prision"

And there was me thinking I was unshockable Shock
