Browsing mumsnet using the chrome browser on an android phone.

Opened a thread "www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2729635-Im-being-watched-WATCHED" on an "open in new tab" but the new tab opened with a spam advert page of the kind that tries to make you not navigate away. I presume this is an unintended hijack of some kind.

I copied the content of the navigation field in case it is of use to you but it seems to be gibberish.

This seems to happen quite regularly - what kind of info will help you to stop it?

Just happened to me too; website using an android device.

Why are you even advertising blatant scams in the first place?!

I've had it several times today too. Xperia Z5 Compact, using the mobile website in Chrome 52.0.2743.98. Haven't installed any new apps in the last week or so.

Mobile site on Android.

Magna · 17/09/2016 19:28

Mobile website and Samsung 6 as well

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 17/09/2016 19:45

The site is unusable for me. I've tried 3 mobile devices, all running paid for Norton and all were hijacked in minutes. The one using CM Browser did at least identify the page was being hijacked and flashed up a warning which stopped the hijack page loading. I'm typing this on ancient laptop which is so slow it's painful but if this is not sorted out then I will have to abandon MN

ChampagneTastes · 17/09/2016 19:55

Ifitquacks There used to be an app on Android but then the whole Jeffery thing happened and they took it down. They did the same with the iphone app but replaced that within weeks. We've been waiting for over a year now and it pisses me right off.

Are you guys using the app or mobile website?

REALLY???

Just to reiterate - THERE IS NO APP ON ANDROID BECAUSE YOU TOOK IT DOWN LAST TIME YOU WERE HACKED AND HAVEN'T REPLACED IT YET.

It is just possible that I am a little bitter about this.

It's crap like this that turns people to adblock.

ChampagneTastes · 17/09/2016 20:23

Ifitquackslikeaduck About a year (two?) ago, Mumsnet was hacked and loads of passwords were stolen. Justine's own account was used (quite wittily I seem to remember) but some users had some nasty experiences as a result. I think they've just prosecuted and sentenced the lad who made the initial hack. Mumsnetters started calling the hacker Jeffery - can't recall why. It was funny at the time.

Ha- you know, having actually just read the message- maybe someone is trying to convert all us android users over to apple?

Hs2Issue · 17/09/2016 21:16

Redirected again! Still on android and this is very annoying now.

Soupandasandwich · 17/09/2016 22:06

Spoke too soon. Happened again this morning. Twice. Once as soon as I had logged in and then a few minutes later on a thread I'd been following for a day or so.
Sorry MNTowers, this is really becoming a pain. Much more of this and I suspect I won't be the only one 'resting'from the site.

purplepandas · 17/09/2016 22:15

And again for me too. It is really hard to navigate away. Can ad blockers work on phones too? I can't keep getting this.

twirlypoo · 18/09/2016 10:48

Oh ffs! I'm really not a flouncer, but this is getting right on my tits and making the site unusable.

Had a nice break from it but past 24hrs or so it's happening again - all this morning and I give up now.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 18/09/2016 11:24

Also- it's sniffing your router which is why it says sky or whatever.

Yep, my broadband provider is a very unusual, little known one and I've just had this ad pop up again showing my IP address and name of provider.

Samsung/chrome

crocodileshavenoears · 18/09/2016 11:33

I've had this several times over the last week or so - Samsung phone. It's really difficult to get rid of and I'm going to stop using MN on my phone completely now - too much hassle Sad.

CommanderShepard · 18/09/2016 11:36

And again. Come on, MN. This is ridiculous.

FrogTime · 18/09/2016 11:38

I've had this a few times over the last few months, it's very difficult to navigate away from.
I'm in Sheffield, Samsung J5, mobile site MN, no new apps recently.

Freaks me out thinking my phone will have a virus Sad

NickMyLipple · 18/09/2016 11:40

Just adding mine - so annoying!
