Browsing mumsnet using the chrome browser on an android phone.

Opened a thread "www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2729635-Im-being-watched-WATCHED" on an "open in new tab" but the new tab opened with a spam advert page of the kind that tries to make you not navigate away. I presume this is an unintended hijack of some kind.

I copied the content of the navigation field in case it is of use to you but it seems to be gibberish.

This seems to happen quite regularly - what kind of info will help you to stop it?

Yep me too. Clear data, back on mnet and happening within 5 mins. Chrome and android

SamPotatoes · 26/09/2016 07:27

I am only getting these when logged in to MN. When it first happened I cleared all cookies and couldn't remember my password to log back in. Went weeks and weeks without it reappearing while I lurked.

Finally got round to logging back in and within a couple of days the pop up reappeared.

The pattern has repeated a few times- able to lurk extensively without a problem- it only appears when I'm logged in.

Anyone else noticed a similar pattern or is it a co-incidence?

LeonardoAcropolis · 26/09/2016 07:28

Here too, Essex, chrome and Android

tinyterrors · 26/09/2016 07:32

I've had it again this morning. Same web address as yesterday and I took these screenshots. I only ever get this on MN and it's usually the first time I log in for that particular day.

[Message from MNHQ: tiny - it looks as though you uploaded the wrong screenshot here so we've taken the pic down to preserve your anonymity!]

Stuffofawesome · 26/09/2016 07:40

Me too. On android

bruffin · 26/09/2016 07:44

I had it on my new phopne again this morning but I am not using wifi but it refererred to Virgin.

JoolsSchmools · 26/09/2016 07:44

I clicked on chrome this morning and my MN bookmark without going through ad blocker. Tried it twice and both times I get the ad straight away. This is getting worse than better. I've signed out of chrome and have nothing allowed pop up or notification wise.
Taking the piss now.

delilahbucket · 26/09/2016 07:50

Just sent them an email about this. Three days I've been getting them.

bruffin · 26/09/2016 07:55

I wasn't on chrome

Yes my phone is vibrating when it happens as well, as if it's a notification.

lovelybangers · 26/09/2016 08:33

Yes, same for me.

Please get rid of it!!!!

delilahbucket · 26/09/2016 09:32

Hi
Sorry for the lack of communication, however, we are working with multiple partners at the moment to stop this and most of them have only just come online.
You are all aware but to re-iterate please do not click on these spammy popups and just try and close them down.
We are working on finding the route cause.
Keep your feedback coming please, as it is really helpful.

delilahbucket · 26/09/2016 10:06

They don't close down! No matter what you click it takes you to their webpage. All you can do is close the webpage and start again.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 26/09/2016 10:10

They are bloody hard to close down.

AngieMumsnet · 26/09/2016 10:36

We have made some changes, can you let us know if these still show up in the next 20 mins?
Please let us know even if you do not see them.

Thanks

CrackingTheWhip · 26/09/2016 11:49

I've not seen any so far, but I'll keep clicking about and see how it goes.

MothersGrim · 26/09/2016 15:31

All quiet but I have not been here much today.

MermaidofZennor · 26/09/2016 18:05

I have logged back in, very tentatively. I'm still getting a lot of problems with my Kindle Fire with messages saying access to MN is not private. That concerns me a lot. I am prompted to clear caches after each visit and that logs me out.

I got the invasive ad this morning when I used my phone to access a weather app that was pre-installed on my phone. I had no problems with anything until it appeared here on MN. I am holding MN entirely at fault for this.

delilahbucket · 26/09/2016 22:22

Not had any more since this morning.

CrackingTheWhip · 26/09/2016 22:45

Nope, not a single one today.

Pomtastic · 27/09/2016 10:53

Nothing here since punch time yesterday!

Pomtastic · 27/09/2016 10:53

lunch time!
