Livid - porn on my phone! please help

I'm not the most tech savvy person, can anyone help please?

Last night I was posting on Mumsnet and an advert for a sex chat site appeared out of nowhere which had a close up video of a woman using a vibrator on herself that completely filled the screen .

How did I inadvertently do this? It was on the Louise Mensch thread, I followed a link to the tweet and read it, then went back to post my message. I think when I hit post is when the porn appeared but I can't be entirely sure. I couldn't work out how to get it to stop either for a minute, or how to close the page.

I don't want porn on my phone ffs! What can I do?

I just had this happen to me - iPhone and i was on active threads. I then got a text along the same theme?! I've not been on any dodgy websites and don't know how the message came through but it was about 5 seconds after the gross advert.

I still get the huge logo on the laptop though.

Just now got the huge logo, using Chrome on a bog standard Desktop PC.

I've got huge MN a lot this morning. Win10, laptop, Chrome browser.

It's easy to get rid of but quite persistant!

I'll clear my cache and cross my fingers.

No porn . Seems sorted.

I remain a teeny bit unconvinced that the super basic MN version has nothing to do with the porn etc. pop-ups, since, while it did used to happen occasionally (especially when MN was even slower and less reliable than it is at the moment), it got very frequent at the same time as the pop-ups started. Could just be a coincidence, I suppose…

Still needs fixing, though remember MN, your precious adverts don't show on the basic version!

I've had that basic version of MN intermittently since I've been on here and that's been 10 years! It's very very infrequent but can't say that I've seen it since this latest problem.

No porn since clearing caches but keep getting the basic version of MN at least every ten mins...

Like Roussette says, it's always been an occasional problem, but I've never had it happen as often as it does at the moment.

Very relieved to hear that the porn is finally gorn.

As for the massive MN logo, we've flagged this to our Tech team (there's a whole other thread about it in Site Stuff) and they're on the case.

We'll update again as soon as we have some news.

We've been working very closely with one of our ad partners over the weekend screening a test page - we thought we'd identified the source of these things. Alas, it looks as though we spoke too soon- so we're going to turn ads on again fully, and continue to isolate elements of our ad-serving system till we pin down the source. Really sorry - there isn't another way of doing this.

I'm getting what Danger posted every 5 mins or so. Porn has gone though as has the Tesco scam.

No porn or tesco here today.

we have no gin yet slightly too early even for us. Thanks so much for the tea though.

I believe all we're looking for are pop-ups and redirects - the strangely basic-looking MN isn't related as far as I know, but tech are aware.

Haven't seen any porn yet, and no more Tesco pop ups today. Will keep close watch and have asked DD and DS to tell me immediately if anything appears on their kindles.
