Banning the term "cis"

OlennasWimple · 06/07/2016 23:36

Apologies if this had already been done, but can MNHQ consider banning the term "cis", given how horrifically offensive so many users of MN find it?

I don't think I need to set out the background and reasoning to this request (but can do so if it would help!)

I've already procreated and because I don't agree with your terminology you scream bigot
Ho hum

CoteDAzur · 07/07/2016 17:02

"Also, you have managed to exhaust me."

I'm sorry that you find reality dictionary definitions so exhausting Hmm

"If I am to be educated, I would probably request someone other than you, because what you say is literal bs."

All I said was tell you about dictionary definitions and also point out that you can't make meanings up in your head.

"Transwomen are women!"

I'm sure you are coming from a place of love and compassion when you say that, but it just isn't true. They are not female (again, see dictionary definitions) and so cannot be women (which means 'adult human female').

I don't know what to say to your protest re how exhausting you find a civil conversation about dictionary definitions this except, maybe, that you should give it a rest now & come back again in a few years when you are a bit older & more resilient?

MsKite · 07/07/2016 17:03

Don't fucking weep on my behalf thanks, soren. Does not being able to understand simple things also extend to those who can't comprehend that there are 2 sexes, and gender is made-up bollocks??
Anyone who buys into it all is a fool

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 07/07/2016 17:03

thought you'd gone?

SorenaJ · 07/07/2016 17:04

Seek Yes, I am offensive, very much so, but so is every transphobic people on here, so it's pretty much even. Apologies to any non transphobic person ttc, the comment was not aimed at you the slightest Flowers

Samcro · 07/07/2016 17:04

"Transwomen are women"
see I can't agree with that..they are transwomen

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 07/07/2016 17:05

Not accepting your Tumblr drivel doesn't make anybody transphobic, Soren. But of course, you're exhausted and not here, aren't you?

SuburbanRhonda · 07/07/2016 17:06

Transwomen are women!

Adding an exclamation mark doesn't make it true.

PortiaCastis · 07/07/2016 17:06

You're attaching more labels where they don't belong
Not wanting to be labelled cis is not transphobic

SorenaJ · 07/07/2016 17:07

Yes, obviously gender is absoulute bs, I agree. I just don't agree with dictionary definition+hurting a sh*tton of people versus non-dictionary definition+not hurting and actually including people. The latter seems much nicer to me. Wait, I was out, wasn't I?

OurBlanche · 07/07/2016 17:07

People in general are uncomfirtable with being grouped in like that, like the cis discussion here (I totally get their points, I'm just rejecting their arguments ;) ) just like not all non-binary are trans, if they don't identify as such. Don't you see what you are doing there?

You are asserting your reality over that of anyone who disagrees... you can reject the arguments all you like, it won't make them wrong, it won't make them go away.

It would be far more useful if you engaged with those arguments... if we all did, instead of having one group self proclaim themselves as being the arbiter of best practice and good behaviour, of rightness

You are doing what other have asserted we WOMEN are doing... you are negating our voice!

And you seem to be doing that by sticking yor fingers in your ears, closing your eyes and singing 'nah nah ne na nah'

LineyReborn · 07/07/2016 17:08

Sorena, that's gibberish.

CoteDAzur · 07/07/2016 17:08

What is it you want from us if there are people on this world who get offended by fucking dictionary definitions? Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 07/07/2016 17:08

Oh dear.... hoping that a bunch of MNers doesn't procreate is trying to shut the stable door. Hmm

OurBlanche · 07/07/2016 17:08

CoteDAzur · 07/07/2016 17:09

A better strategy would be to tell them to grow thicker skin. Or to adjust their thinking to reality of the English language.

OurBlanche · 07/07/2016 17:09

Opps! I am so sorry about that double post Blush - cos that's what we women do Smile

SorenaJ · 07/07/2016 17:10

Portia agree, for sure. I don't want to be labelled as cis either.

Y'all Why is your truth more real that my truth? Just because you say it isn't true, doesn't mean it isn't true? Literally a person's bits doesn't matter, a woman is a woman, they are the exact same inside, it doesn't matter that they have been born with a body that people doesn't traditionally consider women.

Okay, I'm out. I will close my browser.

That 'non dictionary definition' does hurt people. Not just hurt their feelings. Anything which legitimises genderization affects so many peoples life chances.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 07/07/2016 17:12

No point replying to that then!

KittyLaRoux · 07/07/2016 17:12

Can somebody please explain to me why the concept of man & women is so hard to grasp and why they find it offensive?

Its like having an argument with somebody who says the watermelon they are holding us a bananna even though it clearly isnt and they actually know the difference between a watermelon and a banannaConfused

CoteDAzur · 07/07/2016 17:12

WTF is y'all, just out of curiosity?

Are you hailing from Texas?

OurBlanche · 07/07/2016 17:12

Literally a person's bits doesn't matter, a woman is a woman, they are the exact same inside, OK... that explains a lot... scientifically, provably, visibly (with the aid of a sharp knife) simply not true!

PortiaCastis · 07/07/2016 17:12

That doesn't make sense
