Would it be an idea to have a like/dislike button on posts? It would save SO much hot air and posting and reposting from people.

Also, is it possible please to link to other posters when you post? As an "@" button?

like buttons kill conversations.
Mn is for conversations.

Therefore,

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

magimedi · 12/04/2016 08:17

NO

ILeaveTheRoomForTwoMinutes · 12/04/2016 08:17

NO

Do MNHQ really think we've all changed our minds since October?

How many times a year am I going to have post, a big fat NO

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2016 08:18

I have noticed lately that lots of posters don't seem to want an actual conversation. They just dash in say their bit once on a thread then on to the next. They just want their opinion to be known but no actual conversation about it.

BertieBotts · 12/04/2016 08:25

What? NO!! This has always been the hard line.

Like buttons just encourage personality contests. Folk should take a post on its merit, not the amount of likes it has.

Also as TwoMinutes points out, those of us who have been here for yonks don't always click on these threads because the like button argument has been done to death. Which means you might get a skewed result if people don't even know this is a voting thread. If you're going to do a vote at least make it clear in the title.

Trills · 12/04/2016 08:28

Timed edit function would not work. Things move too fast.

I'm going to draw the line now

I think a timed edit function would work well for thread titles. Might solve the 'hilarious typo' situation.

BertieBotts · 12/04/2016 08:37

Who wants that solving?!

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2016 08:38

Me. After the 'hilarious' microwaving dog thread. Hmm

Fiderer · 12/04/2016 08:56

Am also puzzled by "mixed views". I thought the consensus was an overwhelmingly resoundingly emphatic:

No.

CuttedUpPear · 12/04/2016 09:32

Ffs RTFT MNHQ

NO NO NO NO NO NO

Nethuns is the place for that kind of bullshit.

I vote yes. Sometimes you want to show appreciation for a post but CBA to post. A like button is miles away from glittery tickers or whatever we always call them here to one-up NM.
