Hi MNHQ, can you ask the GNHQ bods to look at this thread? Thank you!

Gransnet is up and running again now.

YonicScrewdriver · 03/09/2015 10:17

I agree, Stan - and Tough also noted that the question was prompted by her own older relatives.

Marital rape was legal until 1991, drink driving has been far more heavily policed and judged in the last 20 years etc - we all have attitudes formed by society, friends and life experiences.

I'm getting an error message when I try to join.

StanSmithsChin · 03/09/2015 10:19

Sad but true Yonic.

It's not letting me create an account which is why I started this thread in the first place to alert MNHQ!

Fucking hell! That's seriously sickening!

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/09/2015 10:23

Also, and worryingly, the Gransnet registration page isn't https, just http. In view of Hackergate, I'm going to leave off signing up until that's fixed

YonicScrewdriver · 03/09/2015 10:25

Maybe someone with a login will post a link to this thread. Just in case this happens...

Elegran, it's incorrect to say there are 'angry posters piling in who haven't thought about the issue' - many MNers have thought about and discussed rape myths repeatedly; please don't accuse us of not giving this criminal issue 'grown up thought'.

Oh my goodness...
Women have the right to show a lot of flesh if they want to, but they also have the responsibility of not promising more than they will want to deliver.

That has left me speechless!

TwoFoldBenifit · 03/09/2015 10:34

Can someone post that tea analogy, as i can't see it being posted yet,

I think it would definitely benefit........ The whole she dressed provocatively so she needs to take some responsibility thing, posted by a few,

Fromparistoberlin73 · 03/09/2015 10:35

Out of curiosity who do GN need to take action? although there are some rather offensive and outdated views, I don't think GN can censor them??

Rape is always the fault of the rapist. but oh my gosh...if I had my 20s again I would have defiantly have drunk less and looked after myself better

To be honest the new young generation don't seem to binge drink with quite the same abandon as we did- thanks god

But yeah, the idea of a young girl getting senselessly dunk at freshers week and then being blamed for the fact she was raped is not pleasant

Simatmum · 03/09/2015 10:38

Gransnet is down again - seems to have gremlins this morning!

redshoeblueshoe · 03/09/2015 10:38

Twofold - it was posted at 9.34 by Youbastardsockballs

TwoFoldBenifit · 03/09/2015 10:41

Sorry, I ment on the gransnet site.

Simatmum · 03/09/2015 10:51

TwoFoldBenifit · 03/09/2015 10:52

Thank you, whenim64

TwoFoldBenifit · 03/09/2015 10:53

Or Simatmum if it was you Grin

YonicScrewdriver · 03/09/2015 10:59

"Out of curiosity who do GN need to take action? although there are some rather offensive and outdated views, I don't think GN can censor them??"

They can post links to rape myth-busters and delete posts that break guidelines. Of course GN/MN can 'censor' posts - they are a publisher, they can publish what they choose!

OP posts:
Simatmum · 03/09/2015 11:07

Yes to both, Twofold

Thank you for posting the tea analogy upthread, YouBastard (hmm, now that looks like an odd sentence!). I haven't come across it before and I think it's excellent.
