I didn't "actively seek him out". There were several of us chatting about the DDOS attack, he got @'d into the conversation. However investigation has shown that he didn't get my address details from MN.

I think in this sort of situation it's all too easy to link unrelated events and put hem down to one cause when really they're not due to the same issue. My opinion is that until there is evidence to say otherwise then the email issue isn't related

I think it's possible to disregard the effect of a SWAT if you're a young teenager/mentally a young teenager as many of his followers seem to be. Much of this will be eclipsed by the Ashey Mdadison hack though, I think, or the next big one that comes along. I hope only that MNHQ learn this lesson for our future.

*Ashley Madison

Jasonandyawegunorts · 21/08/2015 10:41

I addressed my comment to MNHQ (who have handled this whole debacle in a slow and ineffective way).

3000 People were on that list, there has been an actual attack on the staff and they have been coming online to post at all hours of the night, they are clearly doing things as fast as they can.

What make you so special, that you think they should stop everything so they can delete your posting history, which as has been explained won't make any difference?

JeffreysMummyisCross · 21/08/2015 10:42

No one who has children of their own would send a swat team to a house knowing there was children sleeping there.
I dont think they are fathers either. But if they are, this proves that their ex-partners are entirely justified in withholding access to the children.

DontTellThePrincessBride · 21/08/2015 10:44

I don't think there are as many of them as they claim either. I think it's been one person and it's snowballed so hers gotten a couple of his mates in to help and I think that with the furore that has erupted it is rapidly escalating beyond their control.

00100001 · 21/08/2015 10:49

I am rather imagining Jeffrey being a bit deflated - he didn't get all that much attention form this. He was all over the boards and Tiwtter etc and all "Oh ho! total 1337 and a madhax0r - gonna bring Mumsnet down for keks"

And then Ashley Madison happened. Grin

wolsey feel free to pop over to MN Towers and show them how to handle this situation! Maybe make a power point showing them what they should have done? I'm sure they'd appreciate it!

00100001 · 21/08/2015 10:52

Calm down Jeffrey.
It's a free world, anyone can reply to your posts wolsey

I agree with this.

Well wolsey - for you to come on here and say that they "have handled this whole debacle in a slow and ineffective way" rather implies you know how to handle these things.

I'm sure your advice and expertise in reacting to hacking scandals would be most appreciated.

Wolsey "All I am after is an acknowledgment [sic] of a message sent two days ago confirming that they will take steps to remove my positing history and then account for the site."

I'm sure you will get a response. MN are actually pretty good at responding quickly in normal circumstances.

YonicScrewdriver · 21/08/2015 11:05

Wolsey

There are people who are on the list AND who have other concerns such as abusive exes. Whilst MNHQ are no doubt taking your request seriously, they do need to triage and prioritise.

00100001 · 21/08/2015 11:06

...so give them a bit of slack.

DontTellThePrincessBride · 21/08/2015 11:06

stich and bitch club

Totally missing the point here and I'm not trying to make fun of you Wolsey, but that is a fantastic name for a knitting/sewing group. I need to learn how to knit and go start one.

Quills · 21/08/2015 11:10

Can I ask if anyone has noticed a massive increase in Trojan attacks on their computer? I've had 4 today already - Zboter Trojans, which is specifically a password stealing virus. My AV software is catching them, but they're only coming up when I'm loading pages here on MN, and they've been coming through since August 18th - nothing before then.

Coincidence or not?

00100001 · 21/08/2015 11:10

wolsey Sorry, I'm not a member of the "stich and bitch club" so I'm guessing you weren't directing that comment at me?

Any other SABC Members want to come forward?

00100001 · 21/08/2015 11:11

quills coincidence :)

MeolsCop · 21/08/2015 11:13

Sorry to post twice about this but, MNHQ, can you, or indeed anyone, answer my question about the passwords being publically posted?

I've changed username, reluctantly, as my previous name was on the list. I want to know whether my password was published and if so, where. I keep seeing people referring to having seen their usernames and passwords but I can't find anything that says how/where this was done - was this on Jeffrey's Twitter feed?

As I said before, I changed passwords pretty swiftly and have done a sweep of all my other passwords, so don't feel unduly spooked, but I would like to know.
