Would you like to test an early version of our Talk app?

Hello,
We've been working on a test version of a new Talk app and could do with your help putting it through it's paces.

If you have an iPhone with iOS8 (sorry no iPods, iPads or android for now) and you'd like a sneak preview then head on over to this sign up page and sign up so we can send you an invite (it doesn't have to be your Mumsnet email address just one you can access).

The app is very much a beta version and everything may not work perfectly. If you find something that's broken or think there is something missing, please let us know.

Ideally we'd like you to use the app to read and post on threads and do whatever you normally do in Talk. Please note, this version of the app is LIVE and anything you post will appear on the Mumsnet site for all to see.

At the mo this is for registered mumsnetters only so if you can't see the sign up page please check you are logged in.

Ooh I'm posting from the app! This is very exciting can see all the lovely pics and everything!

Yy to wanting to know how to flip (esp as not all posts download at once, it seems to work in sections so some waiting around as you scroll down is going on)

And also can't see prev posts when the post a reply screen comes up so chances of me writing correct names of Mnetters when I reply to them will diminish somewhat...

Initial thoughts:

I can't see threads I have been on today on "Threads I'm on". And TIO are in a strange order.
Need flip thread please.
Any "My Topics".

But it looks & feels great, photos rock!

I think it needs a 'how to' section for dummies.

Love the colour.

I think there might be too much white space between posts.

I love being able to change the colour, and everything seems very fast which is a massive improvement on the old app.

I'm not so sure about the font size though - it seems unnecessarily large? Also, is anyone else's keyboard MASSIVE? The whole app seems to be assuming I need to wear reading glasses!

I'm using an iPhone 6plus, so it might be that it's not sized for each device yet?

The lack of flip option is a pain.... But on the whole, I like it!

Twentyninedays - you're right about the white space between posts. Some kind of definition would be handy (in addition to the name 'flag' things).

Germgirl - if you swipe the post (right to left) it gives the bookmark and report options

I think the emoticons look better in the App.

I'm on an iPhone 6 but not plus and the font size is fine.

How are people making things bold?

Ooh it looks lovely.
Miles better than the old app for iOS but it really does need flip.
I'd prefer being able to see the thread when I type my reply (like the desktop site) but I'm used to not being able to see the thread as the other app is the same.

Haha! Found you all I started a cat photo thread just to see if photos worked - there can never be too many cat photo threads...

I too would like a flip thing - the threads I'm on a oldest first which is just wrong

I always usually write my posts on the notes app so I can flick back and see who said what so I can reply to people using the right names! I also love the emojis - they look great. Trying bold italics underline cross through and a photo!

I did the earlier beta testing for the app and I'm sure you could flip the thread really easily - can't find it for the life of me now though!
