Would you like to test an early version of our Talk app?

Hello,
We've been working on a test version of a new Talk app and could do with your help putting it through it's paces.

If you have an iPhone with iOS8 (sorry no iPods, iPads or android for now) and you'd like a sneak preview then head on over to this sign up page and sign up so we can send you an invite (it doesn't have to be your Mumsnet email address just one you can access).

The app is very much a beta version and everything may not work perfectly. If you find something that's broken or think there is something missing, please let us know.

Ideally we'd like you to use the app to read and post on threads and do whatever you normally do in Talk. Please note, this version of the app is LIVE and anything you post will appear on the Mumsnet site for all to see.

At the mo this is for registered mumsnetters only so if you can't see the sign up page please check you are logged in.

Installed the test app today.

Flip would be great, and a way to bookmark posts because I currently can't. Or maybe click on the latest response to head straight to the bottom of the thread, just like on the mobile site for IOS.

Strange thing at the mo is that posts from the 5th of July show as today . I don't know about anyone else, but last time I checked tardises (tardisi?) were still fictional

CatcalledJohn you can bookmark by sliding across the arrow which is on the top right of the screen by every post. You can then choose to bookmark.

Advanced Search - where is it? Am I missing something obvious? The search bar on Topics only searches, well, topics.

App is also a massive battery drainer for me - iPhone 5.

My app crashed and wasn't showing any threads so I've had to delete and re add the old app.

Flip thread needed (though I would prefer being able to go to end of thread). It's hard to remember to bookmark.

Hmmm have been on for a couple of minutes and I've noticed my battery has dropped by 4% already. I've nothing else going on on my phone. But a dying battery is a bugbear to me!
So is be reluctant to use the app if I'm out or about in case it drains the battery.

Really like this app so far. I usually use the app anyway but don't like not being able to see photos.

Miss the Flip function.
Like being able to do the italics etc. easily. Seeing photos is ace.

How do you do links?

I prefer this font size. (Using iPhone 6)

It is working well apart from the battery issue.

A find on page search option would be great.

The ads are really annoying me.

Somebody was asking about advanced search - it's not available yet.

And somebody said about flip - very handy on the old app, where you couldn't bookmark, which meant that long threads took forever to get to the end of just to get the update.

Really dislike the ads between threads which look like you have unread messages. So you click and get taken to a mumsnetty looking page to click again...

I also like the clearer topics menu,it's nice and clean looking.

I've just spotted bug. When I flicked through a long thread to get to the end and book mark it. I noticed it said that today's day but last month was "today" eg. 7th July. and tomorrow's day last month (eg. 8th) was "yesterday".

Yes - I also dislike the ads in the middle of threads that make it look as though I've been sent a private message.

Also - this is the only long thread I'm on / reading - and the scrolling is a pain. Would there be any way to jump to the end of a thread?

Another thing - the photographs look good - and open quicker than on the safari version I usually browse on. But, I can't zoom in on them. I did like being able to take a closer look at some of the photos posted so I'd miss that.

I DO like the app though! And I've been using it loads and getting used to it.

I really miss the search option. And I did wonder if access to our accounts & messages could be an option, for when you want to name change for the sake of preserving anonymity, and communicating 'off-board'.

Deleted threads just disappear, unlike on the mobile site.

Yes, I've had several where it's told me that I was unsuccessful and so I've tried again, only to find I've posted twice. I'm being a little more circumspect now and waiting to find out if my phone speaks the truth...
