Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

JessicaMumsnet, I have no idea - I downloaded the AVG mobile software when I got the phone. Maybe it has an ad-blocker. It doesn't matter, I will try my tablet when I get a new charger (overdue to do anyway)

Hi there Spoonyforker - I don't think you are over thinking it at all. We would not directly accept ads of this nature from any of our advertisers; however we do run advertising from third-party ad network partners and annoyingly we do tend to get a small minority of unwanted ads appearing across our site.

I have blocked this particular advertiser and also activated an additional filter, so hopefully this will stop these insensitive ads from appearing across our site.

Thanks for reporting and sorry for any distress caused.

SoonToBeSix · 04/09/2014 16:43

Jessica I went on and off the site and it's normal size now. Strange but I am glad it wasn't deliberate.
I still feel there is a lot of white in the background but the glare has improved.
I much prefer the adverts I been posts that at the top . Thanks

Cadsuane · 04/09/2014 22:39

Still having some problems with my windows 7 Nokia 900 but it is more usable.

The blue bar is still stuck near the top of the page but I can now turn it off. Thanks for that hint.
The various buttons are now empty squares, most of them work but not the chevron so I can't access customise ( I could previously).
The First, Previous, Next and Last buttons are off to one side (left) and, unlike my ipod, don't tell me what page i am on (although it does say how many pages).
When I click on a specific post in threads I'm watching my ipod now takes me to where I want to go but my windows phone still takes me to the start of the thread.

New this week is that the opening posters posts and Mumsnet posts are no longer highlighted . (I have checked this option is still working on all my other devices). This is probably the most annoying thing.

I am also getting the Windows does not support this file type message when I try and post. (But don't try this often from my phone)

In better news I prefere the new add lay out and the glare is not so bad.

I agree every six posts is too much.

On the whole though the mobile site is actually now becoming usable. Yay.

WinifredTheLostDenver · 05/09/2014 06:51

I find the thread ads ok.

Romeyroo · 05/09/2014 07:04

Thing is, for breaking up the space, ads every six posts don't help because long posts fill the screen anyway - I tried on DD's i-touch where I can see the ads. There is something about the font and amount of white which just does not work for me (headache related). I'm just giving up with the mobile site beyond five minutes.

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 05/09/2014 07:26

Is there anyway we can take posts of out the threads I'm on bit? Sometimes I comment on a post then the thread takes a turn and gets a bit nasty and I don't want it to keep popping up with responses..?

nickelbabe · 05/09/2014 07:59

I want to know how Teeny got the musical notes!

nickelbabe · 05/09/2014 08:01

chevron still isn't working on firefox, and we haven't had a "we're on " response despite you being told by several users. Hmm

Hi there Cadsuane, Thank you for your update. We're having trouble replicating that on the Nokia but we'll try again and see if we can identify the problem so we can fix.

Very sorry to hear that Romeyroo, it's a fair point regarding longer posts. We did increase the weight of the font but it is slightly more spaced than previously which might be the part which makes it appear to have more white.

Hi PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears, that would be a new feature so not something we want to add to Tech's to do list just now but we'll bear it in mind and if it's something lots of people would like we can re-visit.

Thanks for the update about your chevron not working for you. I'm afraid I don't follow your second point - would you mind explaining what you mean by "we haven't had a "we're on " response despite you being told by several users." Thanks!

TeenyfTroon · 05/09/2014 10:24

nicklebabe I Googled 'musical note symbol', saw the quaver symbol on one of the search results, then copied it and pasted into my post. Then I checked preview message and it was still there.
Just wondered if it would have been quicker to look on the emoji keyboard on my iPhone (an old 3GS) so trying that now!
?? No, that didn't work! I'll stick with google and copy and paste - unless MN want to add one.... please?

nickelbabe · 05/09/2014 18:27

I mean that even though lots of users have said "my chevron isn't working either", noone has replied with "we'll try and find out why" or "we'll put it on the list"
earlier you replied that we should try a different browser, but it was a new thing - it did work before.
and i've tried different browsers where the chevron does work. so it's a Firefox issue

nickelbabe · 05/09/2014 18:28

thank you Teeny :)

I see thank you for explaining to my poor addled brain! Yes we will try to work out what's happening there, on firefox for the devices reported. Thank you

Cadsuane · 05/09/2014 18:51

So following on from yesterday and I am trying this from DH's Windows 8 Nokia (520) and everything looks great.
So I think I may be a Windows 7 issue I'm having. Ah well new phone at EasterGrin

ForTheLoveOfSocks · 05/09/2014 21:03

Jessica - I can't find bump and reset Sad

RubyGoat · 05/09/2014 21:09

Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
OS Android Jelly Bean 4.1
Browser: Chrome

The 'MN have commented on this thread' link doesn't work for me, either.

Also, (and I haven't seen any other comments about this), when I tap the ... & the menu drops down, it won't go away again when I tap the ... again. So I have to go forward/back a page to get rid of it.

Bookmarks still not working - is there a plan to sort this for Chrome users? I definitely have it switched on in Customise, the option isn't visible in the drop down menu.

ForTheLoveOfSocks · 05/09/2014 21:59

Found it. I'm now a happy bunny Grin

lucidlady · 05/09/2014 23:04

Where is bump and reset? I still can't find it...Confused

DharmaBumpkin · 06/09/2014 07:30

I like the new mobile site, and don't mind the in-screen ads at all - much better than the ones that stayed stuck at the top of the screen.

I have a question about the little blue bar at the bottom tho, and don't know if this is a bug or me being useless! When I pinch the screen to zoom in on a photo others have posted, the buttons on the blue bar zoom as well, making the screen size tiny, as per the screen shot below.

Is there any way to keep their size static, whether you've zoomed in or out? I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S4 btw.
