Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

@LineRunner

Thank you for getting rid of the ad that was stuck to the top if the page.

The ads are still annoying though because they are not static. The rapidly scrolling text is really irritating.

You're welcome of course, we'll be testing this approach for the next little while so if you do have other feedback please mosey on over here and let us know.

Unfortunately we can't blanket prevent moving adverts so we're hoping be able to scroll past them will at least limit their impact.

nickelbabe · 02/09/2014 18:33

ooh, now that's annoying.
i just pressed refresh at the bottom of the page, and inatead of it loading new posts and keeping me in tge same place I was, it took me to the top of the page.

I can't remember what happened on the old mobile site, but on desktop, it keeps you on the part of tthe page from whence you pressed refresh.

nickelbabe · 02/09/2014 18:36

the first thing on that page you li ked to about the mobole site is bollocks.
i was logged in and went from talk to the homepage and back to talk, and i got that message.

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 02/09/2014 18:36

Okay, the little ... At the bottom of posts and the arrow thingy at the top? When I use the ... And hit bookmark, the box with the options in disappears once I've selected my option, perfect, because I've done what I needed, why doesn't the same happen with the arrow at the top? That's annoying..

BertieBotts · 02/09/2014 18:46

It's much better! But still running very slowly for me. On wi-fi it's better but on mobile internet it was glitching so much that I couldn't scroll, because the page wasn't recognising my drag as a drag, but instead as a pinch/pull and I was zooming all over the place or clicking on links instead of scrolling.

I was on a moving train to be fair, but I didn't have this problem on the old site. Once the page was loaded it worked.

ItsNotEasyBeingGreen · 02/09/2014 20:18

Errrmmm what on earth has happened to the icon things for 'active' 'watching' etc... See photo. I'm on an iPhone 5 operating on iOS 7.1.2.

Just came back onto the site properly for the first time in a couple of days. The new placement of adverts is (IMHO) much better than before! Thanks

Thank you for the Cake Jessica Grin

I'm on laptop now and have hidden all the threads I can't hide by rubbish phone.

I tried the chevron on the mobile site on my laptop and it still doesn't work so does it have something to do with firefox do you think?

springbabydays · 02/09/2014 20:43

Thanks for the tip Jessica. Now to hide that pesky blue bar... (think I remember how to do that!)

TeenyfTroon · 02/09/2014 20:52

PinkandBlue are you me? The lack of disappearing chevron options annoys me too.

I really hate the adverts between posts. I prefer them at the top.

Its terrible I complained about the insensitivity of the stupid adverts being inbetween posts but its just hit a new low for me, reading a thread about the poor lady who lost her baby and the first ad in amongst the supportive condolences is for paediatric first aid courses, it cant be just me that finds it unacceptable.

if you cant control the content of the ads then they should be easy to avoid at the top and bottom not right there in the middle!

I've just noticed. How annoying. Bad MNHQ .

And yes, the insentitivity of ads is disgusting. I know that you cannot monitor ads but how about switching them off for certain forums to avoid this...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/09/2014 21:48

I actually meant to post that in the feedback thread but im really upset by it, there were some lovely replies then that ad, I understand advertising is needed but mn is supposed to be a safe place for support, you cant avoid the ads they are in your face.

GiveMeCheesecake · 02/09/2014 21:54

I have it set to hide the shortcut bar, but it keeps coming up everytime I log in and I have to click to hide it again. I haven't changed any settings on my phone so not sure why it's suddenly forgetting to hide it. First time I've had this problem since the new mobile site and I've had it set to hide pretty much since then! Confused

Hello nickelbabe, That shouldn't happen quite like that, can you let us know if you were using your back button or the navigation links?

Thanks.

Hello smilingthroughgrittedteeth We saw your post earlier and have been working since to remove the ads we can't control from sensitive topics asap. That should be released tomorrow. We're sorry you've been upset by an advert tonight.

Another poster encountered that previously but we're not quite sure what caused that and are finding it hard to replicate. Do you have any custom keyboards added to your iPhone? Thanks

Hi there GiveMeCheesecake thank you for letting us know we'll see if we can get that to happen for us and find a fix Smile

JessicaMumsnet · 02/09/2014 22:13

@PolterGoose

iPhone iOS 7 something on Safari

I'm having issues with the chevron button, keep getting taken to active convo's or sponsored discussions and other random places when I tap it. It was fine last week.

Hello, hmm nothing we've released today should have impacted the chevron menu but we'll take another look tomorrow to try to work out what's happening. Thank you for letting us know

ItsNotEasyBeingGreen · 02/09/2014 22:13

Nope no custom keyboards. They're fine again now, it was very peculiar.
