Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

It's for PPI stuff.

jessica the picture shown in nickelbabe's post from yesterday at 19.13 shows the same as is seen on my HTC one using Firefox, with the chevron at top left. Also as nickelbabe and munch mallow say, the chevron isn't clickable anymore.

Also when coming back to the mobile site this morning and without having logged out, the blue shortcut bar at the bottom has reappeared even though yesterday I customised my settings to hide this bar. So every day I have to rehide the bar.

When going back into a thread bookmarking seems to work but not sure what will happen after I post this, will have a go now...

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 31/08/2014 09:48

Still can't post from Safari.

All seems to go fine then circles endlessly when I press send.

maxmissie · 31/08/2014 10:01

Very quick update as Firefox just crashed and I lost my very long post.

After last post was taken to random place on thread from three days ago rather than my bookmarked place from yesterday. Also after Firefox crash also not taken back to bookmarked place.

My scrolling side bar is absolutely miniscule and was not that small and unusable before the changes to the site.

Speed is appallingly slow when loading, posting and scrolling. Not a problem on any other site.

Please bring back show all messages option as don't want show 1000 messages set up automatically for every thread.

Can't seem to be able to properly use the mobile site in my old browser or in Firefox. It really is way worse a site for me in terms of functionality and useability.

People having problems with safari, have you changed the URL from m.mumsnet to www.mumsnet?

The website address

Lweji · 31/08/2014 10:18

URL is basically the address at the top of the browser.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 OS Android Jelly Bean 4.1 Browser Chrome

I've checked on the desktop site, it says bookmarks are switched on, but that it only applies to 'Mumsnet New' style. Sorry if I am being a total dunce here, but could you just confirm I am in fact supposed to do this in 'Customise'? Or is there anothere thing I'm supposed to change as well? natural luddite

Hello LegoCaltrops, No that's all you need to do. To save a bookmark on a thread tap the ellipsis menu found on every post and bookmark is one of the top options.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 10:24

This is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 example

Still taking several clicks before I can open a thread anywhere, most of the time I still have to hold down and wait till the "open" menu pops up. Still takes at least 5-10 attempts to register I've pressed anything.

Samsung Galaxy S3, it happens on chrome and on default browser.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 10:35

IrenetheQuaint We don't have that particular phone to hand to test on directly but we can look generally at Android 2.2. Tapping a thread or button should only need one tap before something happens - can you make confirm the page is fully loaded before you tap?

In the meantime, you can watch a thread by tapping the chevron menu at the top of the page.

Noted about Show all messages!

Hi Doubtfiredear as above can you confirm the page is definitely fully loaded before you tap? Thank you

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 10:38

@livelablove

Looking at the screen shots I think my phone is totally different. The taskbar and advert just stay at the top of the screen great with the ad as i dont want it and dont move. A lot of the pictures are not showing. These are not too bad issues the double posting is the problem. Nokia lumia 900 windows

Hi livelablove, we tried quite a lot last week to replicate your double posting and couldn't. We'll keep thinking about it though sorry not to have a nice quick fix for you. Smile

DoubtfireDear · 31/08/2014 10:42

Yeah, the page is definitely fully loaded, it doesn't only happen when I have just opened the page, sometimes I'll have been scrolling through active threads for several minutes before i try to click.

It's worse on "Threads I'm on", sometimes the text in the link and thread preview just becomes highlighted.

Occassionally happens with bottom toolbar too.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 10:46

Okay thank you DoubtfireDear will take a look at that soon. Thanks

IrenetheQuaint · 31/08/2014 11:56

Thanks Jessica. I've just checked and the problems with the blue taskbar are the same whether the page is fully loaded (which takes a while, btw - much longer than previous mobile site) or not.

Just a suggestion, but threads with images in posts seem to take much longer to load than those without - is there (or could there be) an option to not show images on the mobile site?

TeenyfTroon · 31/08/2014 12:24

Totally insulted JessicaMN. How dare you suggest I don't know how to use my magnifying glass. And to prove it, Pinkand Blue is also having trouble. So there! Tho to explain the problem I'd need 3 hands and a video camera!

Just clicked on the slopey 'I' and discovered it doesn't just mean 'write in italics'...
(When's the user guide coming out?)

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 31/08/2014 13:00

The mobile site is unusable on my Samsung Galaxy S2 running Android 4.1.2. I can't click on on any of the threads, there is no response. If I tap many times then I am likely to load a thread that I was not trying to open.

Merel et al who are having problems with Samsung and either default browser or Chrome, I'm getting a much less glitchy experience by using Firefox which I specifically downloaded just for MN mobile.
I didn't want a third browser, but it does make the new MN much less frustrating. Hope that helps a bit for now.

Iggi999 · 31/08/2014 13:39

When I open a new thread, why don't I see the OP at the top anymore? I hate flipping it or going to the last page.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 14:44

Hello coffeeandcakes, very pleased to hear there's been improvements for you on nexus. Smile We still working on getting the best balance between space and font size etc so thank you for letting us know your thoughts. Also thanks for flagging the odd picture enlargements, we'll take a look into that.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 14:59

Sorry Teenyoftroon please accept lots of Cake as a sign of my contrition. I shall personally play about with magnifying glasses so I can see what's what.

We'll also put together a FAQ/User guide and where possible include screenshots to help asap.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 15:01

We'll be working on speed next week and doing everything we can to speed up the time it takes for pages to load.

We realise that it's a bit painful on longer threads especially on chrome.

JessicaMumsnet · 31/08/2014 15:04

Hi maxmissie, thank you for that -nicely comprehensive! We'll test again on HTC Firefox alongside Samsung galaxy s2.
Thanks
