Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

And may I cheekily suggest that a lack of people posting to agree with me will rather prove my point :o

RowanMumsnet · 27/08/2014 14:22

@PseudoBadger

Before the weekend I was using my iphone 5, couldn't post. Got my new 5s, still can't post. Obviously can post on the desktop site.

That does sound fantastically annoying. Hopefully we'll get some more feedback on 5s's and see whether it's just you.

Official MNHQ plea to iPhone 5/5s users to struggle to a desktop site to let us know if you're having difficulty posting

iPhone 5
iOS 7
Chrome

How do I reset a thread I'm watching? There's no watch option once I've watched it
Can't we have a bookmark and reset button in one? Surely that's what everyone does?

sunbathe · 27/08/2014 14:51

Erm, what did you do to the font?

I can't say I noticed a change.

sunbathe · 27/08/2014 14:52

And it's still giving me a headache.

PseudoBadger · 27/08/2014 14:59

Testing using Chrome

Oh, and another thing... Grin

When a thread loads it suddenly jumps/reloads/moves slightly (not sure which) after a few seconds, thus totally losing ones place and sanity. Thank you!

Lumia, Windows 8.1, IE

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 27/08/2014 15:21

This is a screenshot from my samsung galaxy using the default browser. I have no report/reply/bookmark or 3 dots at the bottom of each post. Is this something that would be fixed by using crome? I -really- don't want to have to do that though!

TIO now takes me to the correct place in the thread when clicked now - THANK YOU HQ Thanks

Why is the new mobile site

So

Fucking

Slow

?

Arrrgh

Samsung phone.

MewlingQuim · 27/08/2014 15:38

And the adverts are taking up too much screen space.

This site is even more annoying to use than netmums now Shock

MewlingQuim · 27/08/2014 15:40

Its taken me 15 minutes to post those two messages!

MewlingQuim · 27/08/2014 15:59

If I try to enlarge something, e.g a picture, then the advert at the top and the blue bar at the bottom enlarge too and cover it all up!

And did I mention IT'S SO FUCKING SLOW ARRGH!

JennyOnTheBlocks · 27/08/2014 16:54

Ta-da!

I've got buttons, access to PMs, link to fb/twitter and it says 'mumsnet' at the top

Only thing buggering up the MN experience is it takes a bloody age and a half to change screen when I've posted

Have to exit MN via back arrow

Suzannewithaplan · 27/08/2014 17:03

I am finding the mobile site generally slow to respond compared to the desktop site (blackberry Q10)

Yes, sorry. We're fairly sure that the problem of images and icons not showing up on Samsungs is down to this problem with the Android default browser. If you really can't bear to use Chrome, if you stab the bottom right-hand corner of a post (where the ellipses menu should be!) you may find that it pops up even though you can't see the icons.

Now I've sorted my posting issue by switching to Chrome, can I complain that I hate flashing adverts that promise messages are waiting?

Rowan, your comment about users updating browsers in order to use the new site - the old site supported all the various browsers and devices perfectly well. The new site is even struggling to support users with brand spanking new all singing and dancing devices, so even if you suggested to your users to update their equipment they probably still couldn't use the new site. To me this raises the question on the purpose of the new site, it doesn't support users with older devices as the old one did, and it doesn't support users with more modern devices as the old one did, so what exactly does it support, what has it been designed for?

It really shouldn't be this much hard work for your users. How long is it going to take for the new site to be up and running properly and accessible by all the users and their browsers and devices as the old one was, or is that just not going to happen and only a select few will be able to access it on specific devices/browsers?

MrsVamos · 27/08/2014 17:34

Sorry.

Cannot see where the glare has been 'fixed' ? Its not as bright white as it was but still not great.

Also, the lines separating posts is too thin, and are we not getting posters names highlighted in a better way ?

Might just be me with my Lumia ?!

ShamTech · 27/08/2014 17:35

We've worked around the limitation of the the older android browsers in terms of image support so all the icons etc should be working on those now.

Also, 'Started by' should be working again now in Customise

MrsVamos · 27/08/2014 17:35

PS

Much prefer text font on 'Active' than text font actually on threads.

Wink
MrsVamos · 27/08/2014 17:42

PPS

Also don't like faffing to get to 'active' if you aren't logged in. Very annoying. Press 'talk' then 'active'. Grrrrrrrrr.

And. I really, really, really miss 'view all messages'.

If I am just quickly checking a thread and not logged in its so much harder remembering where you got to on a thread.

I suppose the answer is HQ want us all logged in to use MN properly.

lazydog · 27/08/2014 17:47

Samsung galaxy S3, Dolphin browser 10.3.1, Android 4.4.2.

Watched threads post counts doesn't change even if you go and read all the new posts and hit bookmark on the very last one. I even tried logging out and then back in (which, incidentally, it won't let me do unless I tick the "keep me logged in" box??) and it doesn't help.

Oh, and on a related note, I really miss the "bump and reset" function...
