Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

Hi, I've only just used the new mobile site for the first time.

The positives - I like the clean look of it. It looks professional and modern.
I like that there's an always there button for Active and I'm on.

The negatives (some already covered but I thought I'd post)
Threads I'm On is REALLY temperamental. 90% of the time I tap on thread titles and they don't do anything. Sometimes it highlights something, but the highlighting is not in line with any text, so I can't tell what I have clicked on.

I don't like the quote marks in TIO. It looks gimmicky and odd.

The font seems larger. I know this is probably because newer phones have higher resolution screens but I have a mid-low range phone which is only a year old and it's now uncomfortably large because I only get about 12-13 words on a line which makes threads hard to read. I used to get probably 15-18 words per line. I know that sounds like a small difference but it's about readability and interrupting the flow. Sorry I can't do a screenshot, I could take a digital camera photo of my phone??

Bookmarks don't seem to work, it took me to the very end of the thread rather than the place I'd marked. And I didn't see any highlighting for OP's posts but maybe I missed that.

I actually didn't get past Threads I'm on and clicking on one thread, the whole site was so slow to load and I couldn't get other links to work.

I'm using a HTC Desire C on Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), using the in-built HTC browser, which acts like a Chrome clone right down to the error messages. This is using wi-fi and I had a strong signal, so shouldn't have been slow to load.

@Romeyroo

Accessibility issues/glaring - high priority - will be looked at early next week

I thought last week, you meant it would be looked at this week; now it seems to be next week.

This is odd, but after the migraine-triggering episode with the new mobile site last week, I am feeling sick even using the desktop version. It has been like some kind of MN-aversion therapy for me. Clearly a message that I need to get on with the rest of my life.

Hi Romey,

This will be looked at this week, it was a copy and paste error from the list from last week. Apologies.

PPaka · 26/08/2014 11:24

The date box on the search facility isn't there. That would be helpful.
And the toolbar covers the space where you're supposed to put the date, annoying
I'm on iPhone 5

maxmissie · 26/08/2014 12:13

HTC One, Android, no idea about browser sorry!

Have already posted this issue as has someone else recently but blue short cut bar at bottom of page comes back every time I log in even when I've used the customised option to remove it

Bookmarking not working, I can press the bookmark option and the bookmark symbol shows in the thread, but when logging back in and going to the thread, it doesn't take me to where I bookmarked.

livelablove · 26/08/2014 12:28

I've been annoying people by double posting all weekend. Hopefully you will look into the compatibility issues with Nokia Lumia 900 windows phone and be able to fix it this week.

I am still having problems opening a thread, I have to tap multiple times
And even then it doesn't always open the correct one.

Fine on all other sites so it isn't my phone.

Help

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 26/08/2014 12:37

just marking place, sorry...

eagerbeagle · 26/08/2014 12:44

I have De Quervain's tenosynovitis (fancy name for dodgy wrists). It's very common in new mums apparently. Mine is pretty dormant but can flare up if I over use a particular thumb/wrist movement - such as lots of scrolling on my phone. After 10 mins on the new site I felt it start to twinge. Have switched to desktop since which is okish. I know you won't switch back but I just can't use the new site. That's a bit rubbish really.

ShamTech · 26/08/2014 13:05

Hi all. Thanks for continuing with all the feedback. We are working our way through the list and shortly we'll be fixing the colours on active and topics pages so you can see which threads you've already visited, plus some improvements to TIO, and later on today we plan to give you back the facility to choose one of your previous usernames when posting from mobile.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 26/08/2014 13:16

although I can now add photos to my posts and they send so so so much quicker than they used to

1 point in mn favour!

XanetiaOfTheDelphae · 26/08/2014 13:49

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Ace and there are quite a few issues. The circles are blank; no option to access threads I'm watching; no option to 'bump and reset' threads I'm watching; can't tell OP posts from other posts (colour isn't very visible); takes ages to load (over 5mins); blue bar keeps flickering about the page; very hard to see what thread I'm selecting to open; most of the time it doesn't work and doesn't open the thread I'm trying to open; OP's post not at top of page on pages past page 1; no option to watch a thread.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 26/08/2014 14:01

I feel it is somewhat pointless coming on here to complain but I am doing it anyway!

The mobile site has now become totally unusable for me as I can't even click to open an active thread! When I click a thread in active nothing happens, when I click a post to open a thread in TIO it loads the whole thread and then doesnt take me to the post I have clicked. The site is also just very slow. HQ dont seem have made any progress with the issues for Samsung Galaxy users like me and I am getting fed up Angry

Also having the problems xanetia is mentioning above except I can see coloured posts.

An update for Samsung users would be appreciated!

nickelbabe · 26/08/2014 14:03

my icons in my blue bar are now all showing.
I don't know if that's because I cleared my cache/data
or if it's you.

but when I logged back in, I got a generic "welcome to mumsnet. you can do blagblah blah"
that's great for a new user, but really not necessary for tjose of us who have been here a while
gotab 740rs
android 4.0.3
firefox Aurora whatever-version-it-is

I have also just received a new phone and I have to say, the chrome experience is awful.
chrome has a hiding address bar that disappears as you scroll. so the bar disappears and the page scrolls but the advert stays where it is. I don't like the hiding address bar at all but the fact that the advert stays put made me feel sick.

moto e

chrome

ps - I am no longer impressed with google - it automatically synced my new phone to my tablet, and changed my frigging tablet settings to how I set the phone ones. Angry

nickelbabe · 26/08/2014 14:04

ooh, and when I've pressed post, it stays on the post I've just done, rather than flick halfway up the page like it did yesterday.
gotab
etc

ShamTech · 26/08/2014 15:10

We've just put the following changes and fixes on:

Visited threads should now show in purple.
Minor cosmetic modifications on TIO.
You can now type an alternative username when posting a message.
Social buttons now respect your settings.

We'll keep going with the list.

Nexus 7/Nexus 4
Android 4.4.4
Latest Chrome/Chrome Beta

Bookmarks seem to no longer be working? I can book mark a post, and the wee flag pops up (on Nexus 7 only), but when I visit a bookmarked thread it no longer takes me to bookmark.

chockbic · 26/08/2014 15:14

Has it slowed down for anyone else?

Getting lots of whirly activity.

emotionsecho · 26/08/2014 15:22

Just tried mobile site on Samsung Galaxy Tab2, it crashed.

Before the crash, I had no blue bar at the bottom and no chevron thing.

FinickityCoder · 26/08/2014 15:27

Bookmarks have stopped working for me. I've left bookmarks on a few threads now and no matter how I navigate to the thread (Watching, active, direct link) it just takes me to the first post. The bookmark icon is still there on the post I left it on but it just doesn't work.

iPhone 5S
iOS 7.0.4
Safari

stilllearnin · 26/08/2014 15:34

Wonder if this will post? If I were a new user I really wouldn't bother with the site at all. I use mn every day and right now I am ready to give up.

IPod touch 4th gen. Google app (that I've always used) nothing works really. Get TIO but thread will not open 9 times out of 10. When it does it tries to load whole thread (not my settings) and so freezes.

Switched to safari on same iPod. Can open the thread but not post. Hate hate hate the look of it. The ads get in the way making text space tiny. I appreciate you need advertisers but it's nasty and I won't be bothering so much.

Also it bothers me slightly that you have so many users and appear to have done so little testing - did you shout out for testers?

MrsHathaway · 26/08/2014 15:35

I can't get mobile site at all atm (HTC Desire, Android 4.0.2, Web thingy 4).

stilllearnin · 26/08/2014 15:35

Blimey it worked!
