Hands up everyone who wants to try out the BRAND NEW MUMSNET MOBILE SITE

Hello comrades

As lots of you will know, we've been developing a brand new, souped up version of the Mumsnet mobile site for seven geological eras quite a long time now.

We can now exclusively reveal that the new mobile site is... TOTALLY AND UTTERLY ABOUT TO BE RELEASED, LIKE, ANY TIME NOW.

We've tested it on loads of MNers (Flowers to those who have helped out) but inevitably there will be glitches that only reveal themselves once tens of thousands of you dive in and start using it - so please use this thread to let us know about those (with the usual info about browsers and devices).

And if you like it, please pass along Cake and Wine to ShamTech, BrunoTech, JessicaMumsnet and all the other techs and MHQers who have been working their digits off on this.

The new improved apps are coming, honest... but in the meantime, if the old apps are driving you bonkers, do please take the new mobile site for a test drive.

This is rubbish.

LineRunner · 21/08/2014 16:28

Oh but I can add a load of wanky emoticons, so fucking great.

HSMMaCM · 21/08/2014 17:13

Changed to desktop site. Can't flip or find where I stopped reading on threads I'm on. Otherwise I quite like the way it looks.

KnackeredMuchly · 21/08/2014 17:31

I've reverted to the desktop site.

I hate this one too Sad

I am feeling genuinely blue about the whole thing!!

nickelbabe · 21/08/2014 17:36

thank you for the changes.
the biggest improvement on visibility would be putting the posters' names in a blue bar like it was before - that really does break up the whiteness on the page.

mine is still very glary.

PseudoBadger · 21/08/2014 17:37

But I still can't post from the new site?! What's happening with that then?

This is what I mean about the blue bar - the desktop site has it, and the old mobile site used to have it - it really, really helps to break up the big white block of whiteness.

I have astigmatism, and large blocks of whiteness really hurt my head.

Sorry I'm getting confused. I thought this was the old chat one.

MardyBra · 21/08/2014 17:55

Hang on. Maybe I'm not confused.

nickelbabe · 21/08/2014 18:15

it is the old one - i didn't have the link to the new one, so i didn't know it was even there!
(because i had to scroll through 3 pages on the mobile site to read about it)

heehee Grin

they've called the new thread "random random numero deux" too, so you wouldn't know what it was called when you looked for it.

nickelbabe · 21/08/2014 18:20

the new thread is good, though, promise

MrsVamos · 21/08/2014 19:31

.....because we is all on it Grin

LineRunner · 21/08/2014 21:54

I am confused.

Janethegirl · 21/08/2014 22:23

I keep saying it is crap for mobiles and I'd like the option to chose the new or old site settings and no one is replying. Mumsnet is only usable on a PC at the moment. It's getting to the point I can't be arsed logging on.Sad the only good bit is the emoticons.

AppleAndMelon · 21/08/2014 22:49

Bit confused as people were complaining about this the other day on site stuff, I think, and MNHQ seemed to be saying it was a glitch - not an impending change.

Don't mind some changes but can't see the point of this unless there is a commercial reason.

LineRunner · 21/08/2014 23:54

I've gone back to the desk top site for some respite.

HSMMaCM · 22/08/2014 01:09

I'm using desktop view too

Lweji · 22/08/2014 07:09

Yes, even the desktop site seems to work better on my poor old iPod.

LineRunner · 22/08/2014 14:55

And the desk top site, when used on my Kindle, doesn't have those horrible moving adverts. In fact very few adverts.
