Hello comrades

As lots of you will know, we've been developing a brand new, souped up version of the Mumsnet mobile site for seven geological eras quite a long time now.

We can now exclusively reveal that the new mobile site is... TOTALLY AND UTTERLY ABOUT TO BE RELEASED, LIKE, ANY TIME NOW.

We've tested it on loads of MNers ( to those who have helped out) but inevitably there will be glitches that only reveal themselves once tens of thousands of you dive in and start using it - so please use this thread to let us know about those (with the usual info about browsers and devices).

And if you like it, please pass along and to ShamTech, BrunoTech, JessicaMumsnet and all the other techs and MHQers who have been working their digits off on this.

The new improved apps are coming, honest... but in the meantime, if the old apps are driving you bonkers, do please take the new mobile site for a test drive.

It's giving me a head ache too, the white is too glarey and actually it's making me feel sick :(

Ok. Have got onto the desktop site on my mobile. Is far from perfect but at least I can read and post albeit with great difficulty, and feel like I am still here.
I really did get the fear when I logged on earlier and the whole site had become unusable. Didn't realise I was so addicted

So, now I can actually see what I'm doing...

MNHQ and associated techies: I really appreciate what you're trying to do here. It's great that you've put so much effort into this. I feel v bad for criticising because clearly this is the product of a lot of work.

But - sorry - no. I don't like it. I preferred it before. I'd be very interested to hear what problems you were trying to solve. I'm sorry if I missed a thread asking what our problems with the mobile site were.

Is there any chance we can start over and have a thread to discuss what we think are mobile site problems and how they could be best improved?

I'm really disappointed.

I only ever post on MN through the mobile site via Safari on my iPhone 4S. It was super quick and easy and user-friendly. This new version is none of those things. And as someone who needs glasses for watching TV and general computer use, this new site actually makes my eyes sting. It's so white and clinical looking. I had to log off after a few moments earlier because I could feel my eyes beginning to water!

I've now switched to the Desktop version for the first time ever, which doesn't fit on my phone very well but at least it's useable.

I do not like this,it's nasty looking.

Took me 10 mins to type that btw. Long threads on desktop on mobile are basically unusable too. I'm persisting though.

I usually only mn on my phone. It's making my wrist hurt scrolling after 10 mins and the ad banner is annoying and big.

I liked the old format, worked for me.

Disappointed and logging off

I've used the customised button to highlight OPs posts and it only highlights the first one and not subsequent posts. Plus I can't get all posts on one go, I can't be bothered going through 50 odd pages for example!

And when you bookmark the last post why does it go back to the top instead?

I sort of like it but I want my posts and the OPs posts to be highlighted in the colours I chose. I also want posts I'm on to be able to show from where I posted and not the beginning.

Do you have to download again or is this app meant to just change

don't like the social media buttons

greyhound maybe, I'm just sick of the constant faffing with this site, it rarely improves the user experience and will reduce the time I spend on it by, maybe, 60% or so. And I surely won't be the only one. Drives me nuts!

It's practically the only site I enjoy spending time on, and it's going to have to stop. Makes me a bit sad really!

you need icons instead of blue rectangles.
blue rectangles don't mean anything.

I can cope with most changes. But I can't cope with slow or not working features. The report button doesn't seem to work and neither does the drop down bit at the top. I have to press several times to get buttons to work and scrolling down makes my phone freeze repeatedly. That white glare is really harsh I am on a samsung s2.

I like change. I'm even using windows 8 (and hating the metro interface).

My main problem is with the "threads I'm on". It used to show the posts within the threads so I can see if I have new posts. I don't mind if it doesn't show the latest posts if it has some way to indicate there are unread posts in the threads. But there isn't. Am I supposed to remember the number of posts there was last time I read it?

How do you flip a thread ?

I do like the new look and now I've worked out what the buttons do it's growing on me. Apart from the technical glitches, I'd say these things really need to be sorted:

• bright white background needs to be changed to made the mobile site accessible to dyslexics and to reduce the glare;
• text contrast needs to be higher;
• put back the mini-preview of TIO, Active Convos etc. and jump the links straight to those posts. It's messy but a great feature.
• color contrast for highlighted posts needs to be higher too;
• it would be really handy if you moved the 'Post' button to the left-hand side of the screen so that posters on iPhones don't keep accidentally posting incomplete posts by hitting 'Done' as they're typing directly over the 'Post' button.

Yup, highlighting op only highlights the opening post. Definitely not good enough, sorry

It's really sloooooow.

I'm feeling incredibly thick because despite using a PC/iPad/S3 nothing has changed. It all looks the same.

It's awful just awful there is no getting used to it. There is no "fix the glitches and it will be ok"

The whole thing is truly truly awful, and gives you a headache.

Please please please please please change back.
