Hands up everyone who wants to try out the BRAND NEW MUMSNET MOBILE SITE

Hello comrades

As lots of you will know, we've been developing a brand new, souped up version of the Mumsnet mobile site for seven geological eras quite a long time now.

We can now exclusively reveal that the new mobile site is... TOTALLY AND UTTERLY ABOUT TO BE RELEASED, LIKE, ANY TIME NOW.

We've tested it on loads of MNers ( to those who have helped out) but inevitably there will be glitches that only reveal themselves once tens of thousands of you dive in and start using it - so please use this thread to let us know about those (with the usual info about browsers and devices).

And if you like it, please pass along and to ShamTech, BrunoTech, JessicaMumsnet and all the other techs and MHQers who have been working their digits off on this.

The new improved apps are coming, honest... but in the meantime, if the old apps are driving you bonkers, do please take the new mobile site for a test drive.

Where is the "watch thread" button? This is rubbish, I'm sorry. Makes the mobile site completely pointless.

Looking at it again just now, between the blue buttons at the bottom, and the ads at the top, almost half the available screen is taken away from a thread page!

Please, how do I log out?

I wish to leave the room and I can't find the feckin door.

jelly, you are right about the social media buttons, they are right above the space for adding a reply. Huge oooops potential!

What was wrong with the old version that it needed changing?

The only new thing I can see that's useful is the 'go to page' option. Couldn't that have been added without the design change?

It's awful.

Slow, too much white, no quick scroll.

There was nothing wrong with the old version.

It's lousy on an iPhone especially held in landscape view

Click the circle with a person in it at the top, to get the option to log out.

Hmm, had to press post 3 times before anything happened then.

try this MNHQ

• blue bar is fine if it contains everything you need- take it all off the screen and put it on the blue bar.

make it so the blue bar doesn't float, but is permanently at the bottom of the screen when you click it (notice, when you click it! so have a "more..." button that is allowed to float - but very not-noticable) (remember what happened last time you put a floating bar in - you got lynched, but still you persist)

• make the adverts appear ONLY at the bottom of the page, like in the old mobile site.
• have an up and down arrow at the side of the screen, all surreptitious-like, so you can go to the top and bottom at will.
• you need to have a "page 1, 2, 3, etc" navigation at more places than jsut the top - it was only at the top in the old one,and it drove me mad because i had to scroll all the way to the top when i'd come in at the bottom
• make threads i'm on useful again

I quite like the white minimal look.

I'd like to customise again so OP is highlighted in a colour.

I've found the ... bit for repirting.

I'd like to hide the twatter facebooog g+ icons.

I'd like to see posters names on my TIO list.

And there is a lot of scrolling through. From TIO I used to be able to click on the last post and flick back up but now it just goes through to the first post.

they've gone into hiding, haven't they.

HowardTJ - you can get 1000 posts on a page in Customise

This remind me when you removed improved MN classic, but we all got used to it in the end.

Obviously there are some glitches to iron out, but I think it's going in the right direction. One thing I do like immensely about the new bland look is that if I'm out and about I won't have to hide my screen (in case I'm outed as a MNetter).

Hmmmmmph not keen on change......

I hate change, but I especially hate this! I really want it back the way it was and don't see why it ever needed changing. I usually go on mumsnet at least once a day but reckon this will put me right off. An option to stick to the old style would be well appreciated!

The blue bar's not floating on my iphone - it moves up a bit when I scroll down, but that's just because the iphone's own icon bar comes up - a tiny flick up when you've finished scrolling gets rid of it again.

It's easier to read but it looks as though lots of functions are missing.

The layout was fine before . It's the app that needs updating!! Why change something that works fine and leave the app absolutely atrocious ?

Stil can't see pictures very well though - need to be able to enlarge them

The 'more' ellipsis is much slower to respond than I remember it on the dev. site

it's because they can't figure out how to improve the app.

they could use this new thing as the app, and then put the mobile site back to how it was.

Thanks for all your comments - we can see you're not, ahem, completely happy with the new mobile site just yet.

But it's really early days, and we'd be ever so grateful if you could give it the benefit of the doubt for a wee while and really get to know it.

Meanwhile, we'll be collating all the technical queries you've raised, and the (much more) knowledgeable ShamTech will be along in the morning with all the answers.
