Hands up everyone who wants to try out the BRAND NEW MUMSNET MOBILE SITE

Hello comrades

As lots of you will know, we've been developing a brand new, souped up version of the Mumsnet mobile site for seven geological eras quite a long time now.

We can now exclusively reveal that the new mobile site is... TOTALLY AND UTTERLY ABOUT TO BE RELEASED, LIKE, ANY TIME NOW.

We've tested it on loads of MNers ( to those who have helped out) but inevitably there will be glitches that only reveal themselves once tens of thousands of you dive in and start using it - so please use this thread to let us know about those (with the usual info about browsers and devices).

And if you like it, please pass along and to ShamTech, BrunoTech, JessicaMumsnet and all the other techs and MHQers who have been working their digits off on this.

The new improved apps are coming, honest... but in the meantime, if the old apps are driving you bonkers, do please take the new mobile site for a test drive.

Do you actually have to be using a mobile to see it? Just logged in via safari on my iPad and it's the normal desktop site.

As anyone said how you flip a thread yet. Or hide a dull one?

I think the thing I would most like to see reconsidered in the new layout is the 'floating' advert at the top. I often do click on add that are at the bottom of the screen in a fairly big square (which I see you also have), but the adver at the top is both annoying, and 'squished' - so I won't click on it because I have to squint to see if it's something I'd be interested in (don't make it bigger though!!) I'm assuming ad revenue is partly based on clicks?

Also, the old mobile version had both your username and the option to post with a different name registered to you near the 'new post' box. I found this really handy because I use different usernames for different things, as I think a fair number of mumsnettera do.

I don't think it's all bad and I know it must feel rotten to get lots of negative feedback after working hard on an update! Have lots of and !

Just tried to install the ad blocker for Chrome and can't even work out how to do that as Google have disabled something. If anyone can post a working link for that that'd be great and might mean I can see more than one post on the screen

How do I highlight OP posts like before?? Ahh, I don't like it!

The blue bar means my iphone bar pops up. I'm bloody bookmarking all of it by mistake

And where's the 'show all messages' option?!

I don't mind change at all, if it's needed. I'm not sure mn mobile really needed changing...my biggest bugbears (so far) are the ridiculously small number of posts I can see on my iPhone screen, and on Threads I'm On you can't see if there have been any new posts...suspect I'll be switching to desktop lol

I like it in theory but I have two usernames that I use for different subjects. On the old mobile site I would post as and write in the username. I can't work out how to do that on here.

This is horrible. Instead of taking me to the most recent post it just takes me to the first post. Useless for threads that are quite long.

I hate it. I can't look at it, its making my eyes bleed. Change it back. Please...

becca you really don't want to do this, trust me, but your ipad is on the desktop version. If you want to see the mobile site, scroll all the way down to the bottom and right at the bottom in the middle of the page you will see the word 'mobile', click on it. This will take you to the mobile site.

I think it's quite attractive to look at, but TIO is All Wrong. The way it worked before, showing a bit of the last few posts so you could see what had happened recently and letting you click on one of them to go straight there was just right. The stupid title and number that doesn't let you see what's going on unless you click through, and having to scroll all the way down from the top is why I don't use the app.

Can I change it back?!

Is it April 1st? It's a Value version isn't it.

Hmm, it's growing on me. I think I might end up liking it...

MNHQ: may I suggest you start a new thread with an OP that explains where all the features (bookmarking etc) and people could post technical issues on that thread, and leave this one for all the cries of "don't like it"? Would make it much easier to dig through the genuine issues.

canteven if you scroll to the top, under the menu button there's a down arrow. The customise button is in there. I've just done the highlight the OP posts things and it's working.

becca yes you can you just have to click on 'desktop site' again at the bottom in the middle to change it back.
