Hands up everyone who wants to try out the BRAND NEW MUMSNET MOBILE SITE

Hello comrades

As lots of you will know, we've been developing a brand new, souped up version of the Mumsnet mobile site for seven geological eras quite a long time now.

We can now exclusively reveal that the new mobile site is... TOTALLY AND UTTERLY ABOUT TO BE RELEASED, LIKE, ANY TIME NOW.

We've tested it on loads of MNers (Flowers to those who have helped out) but inevitably there will be glitches that only reveal themselves once tens of thousands of you dive in and start using it - so please use this thread to let us know about those (with the usual info about browsers and devices).

And if you like it, please pass along Cake and Wine to ShamTech, BrunoTech, JessicaMumsnet and all the other techs and MHQers who have been working their digits off on this.

The new improved apps are coming, honest... but in the meantime, if the old apps are driving you bonkers, do please take the new mobile site for a test drive.

By the way...until MNHQ sort out the previous/next buttons..

When you click on a thread, press "add post" on the blue bar and it'll automatically take you right to the bottom where the buttons are Smile

My main gripe is that I've lost 20% of my screen space (iPhone 4S). I really take exception to having an ad constantly hovering at the top. I get that ad revenue is needed but this is overkill - it takes up at least 10% of screen. The bar at the bottom is useful but in combination with the ad it irritatingly reduces reading space even further. Please, please sort this.

Agree re too much white. It hurts my eyes, and as a regular migraine sufferer I'm a bit twitchy about it.

What's going to happen as a result of 90% of people disliking it?

Ok I can now start a thread and have worked out how to pm, look at profiles etc but the white is hurting my head!!!

And I don't like having to go to the bottom of the page to then click to get to the page of the thread I want.

Armghh I have to feed madthings and get little ones to bed so shall come back later and see if I can get on with it better.

I do like the blue bar at bottom and the bit for Smile etc. That's useful.

Hmm ok. I like the swishy blue bar at the bottom. And the easier to use emotions.
But I can't zoom in on a picture. I end up with no screen.
The posts I'm on takes you to the 1st page, not the last one you read.
And I can't pick my own colours to customise :(

Don't like. Agree with those who mentioned the lack of highlighting for all op posts, problems with bookmarking, on watched threads it takes me to the start of the thread, rather than the most recently bookmarked post. Really unhappy with this 'upgraded' MN. I use my phone 98% of the time on MN and this change makes it pointless-too difficult and time consuming to read through the whole, often long thread every time.

Sorry MN HQ but im not a fan. I cant see enough writing. I don't like that you can only hi light the op's first post. Cant see the comments on threads im on so cant glance to see new posts. Liked the top and reply buttons where they were. I've gone back to desktop to post as the new mobile one is too laggy and won't let me preview properly.

Am I on a different planet? Both phone and now added app on iPad look totally different to the screenshots on this thread. All that's different to how it was before it that the top of the page is purple. No swishy blue bar or anything for me Sad

Hmm. Have found the add post button now but took some finding. And it seems slow. Also don't like the floating bar at the bottom.

Are we not trusted to do smilies on our own now? And for threads I'm on my purple isn't so purple any more :(

It's ok but in true mumsnetter style I don't like change Grin

I don't understand why it would be a good idea to only be able to see a teeny tiny bit of actual MN stuff, once you've accounted for the advert at the top and all the guff at the bottom? Definitely putting me off using it and I'm addicted to MN Sad

Do I have to scroll down every bloody front page to get to the last?!
Also, on iphone4, can I make the text smaller so I can hve more than one post on screen at a time.
And the white screen is going to be shit for night feeds.
Really, really not a fan...

Posting this using my tablet as the new site on my mobile isn't working.

Windows phone using Internet explorer.

Press 'post message ' and I get a message along the lines of 'cannot download file -Windows phone does not support file type.

My message is then posted twice for some reason.

The site then even started throwing me out of the internet. (I don't know if that's the right way to describe it ). The site disappeared and I was no longer on the internet and can't get back on to mumsnet site.

And yes re TIO - the preview of replies was the entire way I decided whether to return to them. Removing that means another reason not to post in the first place, I don't have infinite time to keep returning in case the conversation has gone in a way I want to keep engaging with.

I like it. People have such knee-jerk reactions because they're adverse to change. Happens every time Facebook revamps it's layouts too. But if they went back to 2004 Facebook they wouldnt like it! Technology changes over the decades and so do our favourite websites - well done MNHQ for changing with the times Smile

Ok, I've got back on the site on my mobile. I think it might have been a problem with using the desktop version on my phone.

So why haven't I got a properly updated app then? Mine is exactly the same as before except the top of the page is purple. There's no swishy blue bar that people are referring to. No ad at the top, no emoticons, no post message button. I still have the refresh and + buttons in the top right hand corner. It hasn't changed really. confused old fart here
