Excuse me for i have sinned , Yes I am a subscriber to another site like this , but it is dedicated to Disney nutters like myself. I thought I would pass on some of the stuff that is useful on there which would be great on here.

BTW I love coming here more!!!!

  1. The name of who started the thread
  2. Online photo gallery of mumsnetters ( possibly conflicts with anonymity may need more thinking)
  3. Personalised online signatures with emoticons or pictures

Thats it for now

Would anyone like a link to the DisneyWorld chat board ??

The star rating is to do with how much you post (I read to think how many stars I'd be worth on Mumsnet!)

I only posted on RK once when someone said there was a nasty thread. Something about a misbehaving child? I can't even remember now! Anyway, I said how nasty and unsupportive they all were and that was it. I think. Oh, it may have been twice - I think they accused me of being someone else.

Hi, just logged on and haven't read all the posts AND probably butting in mid conversation but.... is there anywhere on the site that explains what all the dh,ds,dd,lol etc etc are? Figured most of them but am at a loss with others. Cheers

Hulababy · 30/03/2004 20:54

ks - some of the software used to create forums, etc often use standard layouts and it us up to individual sites as to how much of them they use and activate. So sites like RK have a stars system related to how many posts. I know that this feature is not activate on MO for example. Although if you wanted to you could find out by looking on your own personal details page. On all of those types of forums you can deactive your own individual setetings to. Like I said below, if you don't want to view people's signatures or avatars or pictures, etc then you just use your control panel once to tick a box to say you don't want to see them - and then you wont from then on. Really really easy to do

Now a papier mache forum I have no idea!!!! And just how did you find that one???

justiner · 31/03/2004 00:54

Hi kwithcath,
this should help
Best,
Justine

I know what I would really like

On the search page, could we have a radio button each for since: today, yesterday, last 7 days

Would make it so much easier for searching, rather than always having to choose the date

jodiemay · 05/04/2004 12:32

How about us all having a page about ourselves, so that you can click on a name and the description page comes up, and on this could also be (if the MNetter is an E Bay user) their E Bay items for sale. There are always good items on E Bay and I sell a lot of stuff, good for selling childrenswear and old toys etc.

suzywong · 05/04/2004 12:38

Please
get rid of the bloody bank survey pop up, it's driving me insane and I've only been on here 2 minutes

PLEASE GET RID OF IT

justiner · 05/04/2004 12:42

Hi Suzywong,
It's capped at one showing per user per day but if you have your cookies disabled on your machine it keeps popping up. Funnily enough the same thing was happening to me (I must have disabled cookies at some point), so believe me I know how annoying it is. I've just rung the ad suppliers up and asked for it to be shown to cookies only people, so it should stop any minute now. Hope that makes sense!
Best,
Justine

thank you for your prompt and efficient service
my replacement switch card has just been delivered, doorbell woke baby, but guess who is going to be the recipient of my first transaction
(that was a thinly disguised big crawl and promise to pay my subs)

Champs · 06/04/2004 00:38

when the pop up pops up, dont close it, just minimise it, it shouldn't pop up again. then when you finish mumsnetting just close it.

HiddenSpirit · 06/04/2004 01:02

Alternatively, use a browser that blocks pop-ups I was not aware that MN had any pop-ups until I accessed MN at work one day and got a surprise when I had a pop-up

For the record, I use Crazy Browser which blocks all pop-ups (although occasionally blocks pop-ups that you do want, such as listing on ebay, for which I now use Turbo Lister )

expatkat · 14/04/2004 04:11

I don't know if this is technically possible, but. . .

You know how when you write an email you can "save as draft" and then finish it later? Can we do that with a post--i.e. start to write one, save it, and then finish it later?

Could be useful for times when (1) you want to do a link but have to find the link on the internet first or (2) you start writing a thoughtful post only to be interrupted. . .

Carriel · 14/04/2004 16:43

Hard working tech's on much deserved hols at the moment so not sure of answer to this one - will ask hin on his return.

prettycandles · 14/04/2004 22:05

When I want to find a link to put in a post I do it by opening up a new window. (In Microsoft Internet Explorer: File - New - Window) Then I can cut-and-paste the url, or just highlight it and drag it over into the 'Mumsnet' window.

spacemonkey · 14/04/2004 22:08

expatkat - why don't you write the post in notepad and save it until you're ready to post it on MN proper?
