Well!

I am fresh out of the shower from a fabulous camping trip in sunny Wales to a call from one of our lovely staff to say that there was a thread started by "Justine" that was really rather vile.

Apologies all, it seems as though we have some nasties hanging around and have managed to hack Justine's account.

Tech are onto it now and we are looking at in what happened.

Justine is on hols atm. Please do report anything odd that you see.

I posted this on the other thread but when I try and change passwords I get the error message and just loads of typing when i try to read PMs

Hi all,

It sadly does look as though Mumsnet has been compromised and some passwords accessed.

We are going to be doing a mass password reset later today and will be sticking a thread to explain more very soon.

Further details to follow, as and when we know more.

Nothing to do with MN but I'm definitely sitting up and taking notice of all this security stuff now- just had my bank on the phone because some tosser tried to spend £500 on shoes on my debit card online. Luckily it was deemed 'unusual' and blocked, but still stuck with no card now all weekend until they send me a new one.

Just wanted to say I am real, I had no idea my account had been hacked until I saw a screenshot of the message above on MN Facebook page yesterday. I have been a member of the site since 2001...so any AS of my name would bring up many, many messages (as my children will testify - they love reading threads where I was moaning about them when they were little).

I changed my password as soon as I had the original email from Mumsnet on ?Saturday / Sunday? and have done a complete reassessment of my passwords across the net...

Am still a bit about the whole thing, really.
