Well!

I am fresh out of the shower from a fabulous camping trip in sunny Wales to a call from one of our lovely staff to say that there was a thread started by "Justine" that was really rather vile.

Apologies all, it seems as though we have some nasties hanging around and have managed to hack Justine's account.

Tech are onto it now and we are looking at in what happened.

Justine is on hols atm. Please do report anything odd that you see.

Hang fire, we are speaking to tech and will see what is happening.

We would advise, regardless of this, that you make sure your password is safe and changed fairly regularly to something that only you know.

There is no evidence at the moment to suggest that this is anything more than a pointless prank.

If Justine's skiing maybe it was a dare, I once went bum boarding through a storm of firecrackers when skiing, reckon the altitude does crazy things to your head

Just to let you know we have checked this incident and agree with Rebecca that it appears only related to Justine's account. We're doing some other 'stuff' now to track the perpetrator.

We are keeping him in touch with what's happening here, obvs, so will report to you all as soon as we hear from him.

Hi all,

We are here and sounding the alarm.

My non-tech brain is playing catch-up but we have shouted loudly and tech are looking now.

We think it may be an idea to get rid of the link to the passwords now, thanks Tiger for the heads-up and we will contact that site and ask for them to remove it asap.

We will update this thread as soon as we know more.

Please do change your password if you haven't already.

Hi all,

It sadly does look as though Mumsnet has been compromised and some passwords accessed.

We are going to be doing a mass password reset later today and will be sticking a thread to explain more very soon.

Further details to follow, as and when we know more.
