Justine's account

Well!

I am fresh out of the shower from a fabulous camping trip in sunny Wales to a call from one of our lovely staff to say that there was a thread started by "Justine" that was really rather vile.

Apologies all, it seems as though we have some nasties hanging around and have managed to hack Justine's account.

Tech are onto it now and we are looking at in what happened.

Justine is on hols atm. Please do report anything odd that you see.

Thanks all and apologies.

No, Maryz I think it was reasonable too. I didn't think it was funny, I thought it was accurate!

mummylin2495 · 11/04/2014 23:58

Just been logged out again and all I did was refresh the page

gertiegusset · 12/04/2014 01:14

Was it a poo troll thread? Grin

YoniMatopoeia · 12/04/2014 06:54

Still being logged out

LottieJenkins · 12/04/2014 07:22

STILL being logged out!! It is getting ridiculous now. It has been going on for over twelve hours!! Hmm

Roussette · 12/04/2014 07:28

Me too, but I can refresh the page and close down mumsnet and came straight back on, and I am still logged in. But go away too long, and it senses I am not there and ecides it's had enough of me not concentrating on it, so it throws a strop and logs me out. Grin

Roussette · 12/04/2014 07:28

*decides

LottieJenkins · 12/04/2014 07:38

I was worried someone had got in my account initially last night so was quite relieved when I realised it was more than just me. The relief is now wearing off!

Octopusinabunchofdaffodils · 12/04/2014 08:42

I have 'keep me logged in' selected on here, my phone and my tablet but I am having to log in again every time as of yesterday afternoon.

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2014 08:50

I haven't been logged out at all Confused

Canus · 12/04/2014 08:55

I haven't been logged out either.

Maybe because I'm using Firefox?

I got logged out initially, but after that, only the couple of times the site went down. Haven't had any problems moving between different parts of the site, refreshing pages or opening new tabs.

I'm using Windows 7 and chrome, if that helps.

Thattimeofyearagain · 12/04/2014 09:16

Woke up to find I had been logged out again- starting to feel unwanted

Roussette · 12/04/2014 09:23

I am on google chrome and have ticked 'keep me logged on' so I am obviously not one of the chosen few Grin

JerseySpud · 12/04/2014 10:17

Pass the gin.

i dont care if its 10. its the easter holidays and the kids are driving me nuts already

WandaDoff · 12/04/2014 10:37

Are we sure she was hacked?

SauceForTheGander · 12/04/2014 10:40

I didn't see it - what did "Justine" say?

VivaLeBeaver · 12/04/2014 10:42

Are you going to have an FBI style investigation to find out who did it via ip addresses, etc. and if its a regular are they getting banned? Grin

I think it was quite funny.

LatinForTelly · 12/04/2014 10:46

Someone's taken a screenshot and posted as a pic on page 2 or 3 of this thread, Sauce. In short, that she was fed up with the inanity on aibu and she was selling the site.

shakethetree · 12/04/2014 10:46

I'm more shocked that people actually go on holiday to wales.

Keepithidden · 12/04/2014 12:44

@VivaLeBeaver You said "Are you going to have an FBI style investigation to find out who did it via ip addresses, etc. and if its a regular are they getting banned? grin

I think it was quite funny."
I doubt they will be traced, I suspect they were behind seven proxies and had installed gentoo.

I found it funny as well.

LaurenTheMum · 12/04/2014 13:09

I don't know who this hacker is, but he seems fiendishly clever.

Oneaddoneisthree · 12/04/2014 13:10

I agree, I think he knows what he is doing.

JassyRadlett · 12/04/2014 13:13

I wonder how many accounts were compromised? I guess we will never know.

Some people don't change their passwords for years. This is very bad practice.

The really sad thing in all of this is that the heartbleed bug was one being used by nation states (mainly the NSA) to spy on everyone in the world. They almost certainly have many more tricks up their sleeve just like this. Hopefully the forced scrutiny of the security community will have some effect on this.
