I'm obviously incredibly relieved. But massively disturbed. How did that happen? Is SP ok?

When I think of Mills and Boon I think of unnecessary drama. I just found it off that such a teaser title would be used for a tragedy.

LisaAYarrow · 24/02/2014 20:44

Sorry that doesn't sound right! I don’t mean unnecessary, I meant that it was attention seeking to me.

Twunk · 24/02/2014 20:45

What happened is horrible.

What is even worse is that there is a mumsnetter who really is losing her son.

He is 18. He has cancer.

PortofinoRevisited · 24/02/2014 20:47

I am a bit bemused that when some of us try to point this stuff out - well used to in my case, not worth it anymore - we get flamed to high heaven. All of a sudden trolls are awful and everyone knew they were one really. Who reported? I didn't as I never saw this til later, after the MNHQ response. I know people who know SP did.

Derek/SP Just want to reiterate what everyone else has said really. I was so relieved to read it was a sick, vile tosser. Hope you're okay x

gertiegusset · 24/02/2014 20:50

Wasn't there a thread recently about which is worse, Troll or Troll hunting?
I think this thread might just illustrate which one really is worse.

NachoAddict · 24/02/2014 20:50

I can't believe someone would do that.

I hope the police can track them done and deal with them.

PortofinoRevisited · 24/02/2014 20:52

Twunk - that is very sad.

Twunk, I agree that is very sad, which is why any trolling about bereavement is disgusting as it may prevent people getting support they desperatley need.

RandyTramp · 24/02/2014 21:06

I saw the original thread earlier and was too upset to post. Honestly, I have never been more glad that a thread was bollocks.

Who would do something like this? I must admit to hoping it was SP trolling, if that makes sense, when it was first posted.

Twunk · 24/02/2014 21:14

Exactly nacho. Minmooch is on our thread and when I read of the "death" I cried because today is emotional enough already. It's appalling.

NormHonal · 24/02/2014 21:16

Mightily relieved to hear the 'Tude is fine, although I missed the thread. What a sick individual.

AlpacaLypse · 24/02/2014 21:24

I can't get my head round anyone who thinks starting a thread like this is either funny or clever. It's so far past what even a 'normal' troll would find acceptable, that's why I can't help thinking the person who did this is mentally unwell, especially as HQ seem to be saying they've done very similar things several times.

By 'normal' troll I mean the type of bright spark who starts one off on a Friday night about some faintly kinky sexual act and hopes to hear a load of us talk about it. That sort of trolling at least has some sort of obvious pleasurable payback for the troll. I can't see what pleasure our replies to the fake SP earlier tonight could have given.

The trouble is that we do use 'MH issues' as a bit of a catch all, which is a bit silly really, as we all know perfectly well there's an enormous difference between extreme paranoid schizophrenia and mild depression, just as there's an enormous difference between double pneumonia and a bit of a head-cold.

Anyway, apologies to anyone who found my earlier comment offensive.

And SP - so pleased to hear you and 'Tude are well. Best wishes Smilexxx

was so glad to find out that this wasn't for real and that both sp and the 'tude are okay. What kind of person does something like this...whoever said gamut of emotions was spot on.

Like the new name sp Smile

There are plenty of fuckwits on the internet.

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2014 21:46

Good grief, I've just seen this thread. I missed the trolling thread completely. What an utterly revolting thing to do.

So glad SP & her boy are fine & that MNHQ are prepared to do whatever is necessary.

LEMmingaround · 24/02/2014 21:47

i am not sure if your last pst was directed at my post there corus, but i will adress if as if it were. That wasn't what i meant at all - obviously if this is a serial troll, all of its posts were pretty upsetting, but one may argue that this is someone with an issue (we don't know what) that is manifesting in this way in some severe attention seeking posts might lead one to believe that there is some MH issue here. However, to target a specific poster in this way smacks of vindictive cunt. So almost the opposite of your comment "to be a cunt is understandable, to be this much of a cunt takes mental illness". I am also very sensitive about MH issues being used to excuse or explain bad behaviour an was in fact on a thread the other day where it was discussed - it was quite an interesting thread. I would be the last person to be dismissive of MH issues.
