very funny in The Guardian

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/08/2006 07:11

I have added a comment to the Guardian

wannaBe1974 · 10/08/2006 08:29

I'm afraid to say that I think media interest in this story will now subside considerably in light of the news events of this morning. Not that I'm saying we should give up of course, but I do think we need to bear in mind that people are going to be more likely to be discussing attempts to blow up aeroplanes mid flight than the potential closure of a website and the issues of freedom of speech. I do think this can come back into the media, but I do think we will need to time it in such a way as to gain the most publicity from it.

aitch71babe · 10/08/2006 10:03

GO Catherine Bennett...
did not know that about the last quote in the book... most peculiar.

Moomin · 10/08/2006 10:14

after reading the comments about never having threatened to close MN, being likened to a terrorist and then the Catherine Bennett article i have so much i want to say but i am obviously unable to....

edam · 10/08/2006 10:16

What I should have said on the demo threads was thank you to the very many MNers who wanted to come on but couldn't at short notice because obviously we've all got kids/jobs/don't live within easy reach of capital. Loads of people CAT'd me to say they'd love to come but was too short notice. So thank you to all of you, let's arrange something soon that's more do-able.

Moomin · 10/08/2006 10:21

in a totally unrelated and separate post:

i don't think anyone is paranoid

i don't think anyone is completely misguided

i don't think anyone has been spectacularly badly advised

i don't think anyone is on the verge of a NB

...so that's good then isn't it

Mayadeine · 10/08/2006 10:39

just back from short break the weather is still crap and then this

but not suprised. Monetary gain for her, if you look at the statistics of this negative support for such a fantastic parenting site that so many people consider a friend.

this controlled crying for adults

Tinker · 10/08/2006 13:39

Has this link from the Guardian been posted yet? here

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/08/2006 13:40

yes tinker its hilarious - but lindsaymc comment is mine!

babyonboard · 10/08/2006 14:29

lol that is really funny.
It's sad that people aren't really fired up about this today, really sad
Is there a new boden catalogue out or something?

morningpaper · 10/08/2006 14:48

DOH I was misquoted in today's Telegraph

Quite a funny one though.

NeverSayNever · 10/08/2006 15:00

They got my quote in there to!

LIZS · 10/08/2006 15:00

Whilst I suppose it would be natural for media interest in this to be waning and attention diverted elsewhere in the light of today's unfolding events, it would be nice to think that at least one journo might be looking at today's active threads. Somehow there are so many which seem characteristic of what MN does best and is really about

nailpolish · 10/08/2006 15:05

i LOVED that Telegraph article

MP you were the talk of Tickle Toes this morning down the library

NeverSayNever · 10/08/2006 15:05

Very true lizs

EmilyTurner · 10/08/2006 17:30

You should see the post some MORON has just posted on my site about how mumsnet should be closed down as we all need to learn how to be grown up women.

I am just trying to calm down before I think of a reply. Anyone got any ideas?

ssd · 10/08/2006 17:49

I'm sorry but if I sold a trillion books on any given subject and make a load of cash I'd bloody pay someone to take a decent photo of me instead of the soft focus, scary mug shots I've seen............

expatinscotland · 10/08/2006 17:49

too right, ssd. i also wouldn't give a flying f*ck what some random people on the net thought of me.

AllieBongo · 10/08/2006 18:24

i know that Lazy Town is popular, but the resemblance between no one and ziggy is scary look

edam · 10/08/2006 18:43

Very true ssd - did you see the feature where there was a pic of you-know-who side by side with Justine? Scary!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/08/2006 18:45

the person who cannot be named is scary..... picture does nothing for her
