Separate Private Schools board please

Dear Mums Net HQ,
Please can we find somewhere else than 'Secondary School Education' for the Belgravia crowd to parade their 'St Trinians vs Eton' conversations? Its getting like the private school version of Trip Advisor.

Then the SS Education board could get back to talking about slightly more universal topics like GCSEs and bullying, that involve ALL mothers.

OP posts:
Mintyy · 05/02/2014 21:13

Trampled, I am also vehemently anti private school and have droned on and on about it on Mumsnet for years. But I don't think any of my posts have been deleted.

Anonymousy · 05/02/2014 21:13

Hahahaha that was greased lightning. And I reported myself too. I'm impressed. Meant it though. Grin

Wallison · 05/02/2014 21:13

Good to see MNHQ all over the burning issue of society's prejudice against the 6% of the population who go to private schools, the poor little lambs.

Forago · 05/02/2014 21:14

poor Helen - what a day to be moderating the education boards!

Wallison · 05/02/2014 21:15

You can say it again if you like Anonymousy. Go on, I dare you.

Very mature, Wallison.

Trampled
I have had plenty of disagreements with posters over private schooling (my DC go private) and we've all managed to avoid vicious scattergun attacks that end up being deleted.

Being opposed to Private Schools is a perfectly reasonable position to have, posting vile abuse is not reasonable. The issue isn't her view but how she expressed it.

I think the "not well" is referring to the extraordinary nature of her recent posts.

Nothing to do with views on schools.

Minutewaltz · 05/02/2014 21:20

Trampled - did you read the OP's posts before they were deleted?

Completely stupid idea and reeks of jealousy. The 'hide' button is there for a reason.

If MNHQ pander to this request where will it end?

TrampledUnderfoot · 05/02/2014 21:22

Yes I did. Nothing to suggest she was 'not well'

Gunznroses · 05/02/2014 21:22

Trampled her posts on the deleted thread had turned into rather irrational incoherent outbursts that led to it being deleted.
It stopped being funny, and more "is OP okay?". When i said 'not well' i was thinking, either drunk or overstressed in rl by other issues and perhaps all the jocularity about her threads had made things worst.

Anyway, what do you think? Will MNHQ be going with the idea of a separate board for private schools.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 05/02/2014 21:26

like, the size of a dreaming spire or something. HUGE.

TrampledUnderfoot · 05/02/2014 21:28

I never told anyone to fuck off.

I was just saying....oh forget it.

SanityClause · 05/02/2014 21:28

Why stop there, OP?

We could have different topics for the major public schools, the minor ones, selective independent schools, non-selective, super-selective grammars, ordinary grammars, leafy comps, non leafy comps, inner city comps, RC schools, CofE, Muslim schools, Jewish schools, the list goes on.....

Or you could just hide threads that don't interest you.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 05/02/2014 21:28

Well if there was another board at least MN would know where to look for the bun fights!

We'd need a permanent Head Prefect on the board.

diabolo · 05/02/2014 21:29

I LOVE independent education. I am really glad I (or rather DH) can afford it for DS.

I don't care if you think its elitist OP. I'd rather we spent our money on that, than on a Range Rover, or moving into an elite state school catchment area, or on a £750k house.

I dont much care what other people think about that either. My DS is having a flying lesson tomorrow (through CCF at his school). It costs me £70 per year. A bargain imo. He is on target for 8 A*'s and the rest at A's. This is at a relatively low level selective school.

I imagine most people who choose independent education don't much care what people like you MrsBright think.

And you've not done yourself any favours on this thread.
