HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

The Times piece is still there

Spero · 03/01/2014 19:46

Sorry, Madame, this is something completely different, a Scottish student's blog from 2010.

A student. About 1,000 'like' his blog.

And the first comment was from John Hemming, threatening him.

What a charmer.

Mignonette · 03/01/2014 19:48

My finger might have slipped across the keyboard on that blog.....OOPS

MadameDefarge · 03/01/2014 19:49

doh I'm an idiot.

Tiredemma · 03/01/2014 19:51

Which blog mig?

LimeJellyforBrains · 03/01/2014 19:52

The coverage has reached the dizzy heights of....drum roll...

Ta Da!

I got the link from the BBC site a little while ago. Interestingly it now seems to have disappeared Hmm but an identical article has appeared in The Streatham Guardian

The original BBC page I looked at also contained a link to the Metro newspaper. Just look at JustineMN's quotes. In fact I'll c&p here:

"Justine Roberts, CEO of Mumsnet, said: ‘The naming of the Italian mother’s children and the somewhat aggressive outing of another Mumsnet user’s identity led us to suspend John Hemming.

‘We have received a number of complaints about the MP’s posts and posting style over the years so we thought it appropriate that we should suspend his membership for a cooling off period.’"

Luckily I was able to retrieve both links/articles from my browsing History.

I think this article is one of the best and most accurate yet, and a good one to tweet/link to. Sorry I can't - am olde and crappe at this kind of thing also going to pub tonight. Back room research is more my kind of thang.

Respect and thanks to all at TeamHemmingsGate. I have read his postings with alarm and disbelief for years. He must be stopped.

ClayDavis · 03/01/2014 19:52

Going back to a point made earlier. Online articles do get updated and changed. I'm not sure if an online archive is kept tracking the changes in the same way as is done for Wikipedia etc. It might be an idea to screenshot the articles so you can keep track of any changes. Probably won't be of any great use but if you do need it in the future it will be there. Even if you only need it for personal reference or to refer back to rather than any official purpose.

LimeJellyforBrains · 03/01/2014 19:57

I don't remember seeing that wording from Justine in any other article?

LakeDistrictBabe · 03/01/2014 19:58

So this is how he 'engages' with the public.

What a surprise!! He already threatened all the web in the last two weeks lol

I knew about his arguments against the students. I've to say that a few student unions representatives even went so far to threaten him back.
My heroes :)

How far would you go....before admitting you're a ?

Mignonette · 03/01/2014 19:59

Here TiredEmma

It's an ancient blog entry but I was so tired and thought I was on here Wink. It wasn't the subject being debated here but another example of JH acting in his usual charmless manner so thought the two needed to 'meet'.

Correction: the article has NOT disappeared from The Southern Farmer. Couldn't find it when I searched the site. Found it under 'National News'.

Tiredemma · 03/01/2014 20:11

Ah Mig I am exhausted through lack of sleep, but I have thoroughly enjoyed reading that blog. They certainly ripped him a new one.

CarpeVinum · 03/01/2014 20:14

am not sure what is being alleged against you

Just read it again.

Us.

Not just I, is having allegations made.

Me and lake are mentioned by name, but the empasis is on all mumsnetters involved on thread/twitter, so I guess you too.

She pretty much says that we have been distributing the screen shots to any tom dick or harry blogger that wanted it. Not that she supects it, but that we did it.

I think.

Hard to wade through the bile and tweet/mumsnet "evidence salad" which looks very JH in terms of "data dump".

It's OK, DH is dealing with it now. He got arm wavy on the phone to lawyer mates, so they can deal with it.

The Southern Farmer! our work is done.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/01/2014 20:16

Metro is owned by tmp, isnt it? So maybe a mirror article is on its way...?

LimeJellyforBrains · 03/01/2014 20:18

Actually, bugger, scratch my earlier praise of the Metro article - still says Mother instead of Children until it gets to the Justine bit. Sorry.

Spero · 03/01/2014 20:20

That Metro article is the best yet.

And I am loving the comments on the student's blog. So many to chose from but this so far is my favourite.

Spero · 03/01/2014 20:20

This is really funny! That John Hemming is prepared to comment here in this way ON NEW YEAR’S DAY is surely a ploy – he’s trying to make sure that even if he doesn’t win ‘dick of the year 2010?, he is a front-runner for 2011! If he keeps going with these delusional arguments, I have to say, he’ll easily be my favourite for 2011!!! - See more at: brightgreenscotland.org/index.php/2010/12/dick-of-the-year-john-hemming/#sthash.Ud4U2v3A.dpufe!

Spero · 03/01/2014 20:21

When does he EVER do anything that isn't dicking around on the internet or sniffing out new mistresses?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/01/2014 20:22

Not quite, lime, its not perfect, title is

"An MP has been chucked off parenting website Mumsnet for revealing the identities of a fellow user as well as the name of an Italian woman who was forced to have a caesarean section."

But before Justines quote it says...
"Additionally, the Liberal Democrat politician also allegedly breached a court order that banned the naming of the baby of an Italian national, where the mother had to undergo a forced caesarean section on the orders of a secret family court."

Lilka · 03/01/2014 20:35

When does he EVER do anything that isn't dicking around on the internet or sniffing out new mistresses?

Grin
Spero · 03/01/2014 20:40

Simon Tyszko, I am probably old enough to be your ahem older sister but will you marry me? On the 2010 blog he says thusly:

the sound of you shovelling would be quite amusing if it were not all so serious. the sheer blinkered foulness of your arguments and ignorant contention that the protesters are both guilty, have no real problems and are protesting about upper middle class issues entirely misses the wave of unified disgust at your society wrecking proposals. the classless solidarity on the streets is quite breathtaking in it’s awareness and passion. keep digging please keep digging. as the chants go, there’s more of us than you! - See more at: brightgreenscotland.org/index.php/2010/12/dick-of-the-year-john-hemming/#sthash.Ud4U2v3A.dpufe!

Lilka · 03/01/2014 20:42

I like this guy!

PacificDogwood · 03/01/2014 20:42

The Southern Farmer just caught me unawares Grin

So, so well done, you troupers - I am delighted to have been a tiny part of it all.

Spero, thank you for posting your letter - I will steal large parts of it and send it to anybody I can think of. The only LibDem political bod around these parts is an MEP; I am not sure he'll be interested, but it might as well clog up his inbox. And IOC and Parliamentary Stsndards etc

May I also say I told my dad a bit about what we'd been up to and he is behind us all as well - once a political activist, always a political activist, even at 80 Grin.

It is heating up which is good and the threatening noises JH is making smack now of annoyance at least rather than 'indulging the little wimmin', so yeah to that.
The Metro article is great - well, the best so far, anyway.

Carpe, your suggestion that the LibDems and other political bodies are not doing anything about him and his ilk because they see his behaviour and what he can get away with as a kind of 'test cast' is just too sad for words. I fear you may not be far off the mark.

I often despair at how apolitical my profession is ('policital' with a small 'p'; not party-political) and how often the general public is easily led by 'bread and games' Hmm.

Ah well, onwards and upwards, Christian Soldiers
