I know, Fenton. It took me about 20 minutes to think of that.

I am not a naturally funny person. Sad

And, just to add to my post, I think we should be able to say something is a wind up without being called a trollhunter.
But that's another thread.

Narked · 22/01/2013 12:01

Please get a grip.

IamtheZombie · 22/01/2013 12:01

Zombie really can't understand why some folk appear to believe that MNHQ are or should be personally accountable to them.

I should get a t-shirt to that effect Tantrum. Or a nice tatt.

Pagwatch · 22/01/2013 12:05

I liked Worra wanting Mambo to be the 5th poster.

MoaneyMcmoanmoan · 22/01/2013 12:15

Actually I agree with the OP.

I find it irritating when I have spent a long time reading a thread, or have spent time answering an OP and it turns out to be a 'joke'.

But I am prepared to acknowledge I am not known far and wide for my sparkling wit - and it does seem, that where I find these wind-up threads irritating and somewhat selfish, most others find them hilarious...

So how do we differentiate between a troll and a joke? Genuine question.

Narked · 22/01/2013 12:20

'So how do we differentiate between a troll and a joke? Genuine question.'

MNHQ do that. And if they feel a regular poster has overstepped the line they have the power to ban people for a few days or forever. They choose what to delete and what to let stand. And they might not always get it right - and unlike a lot of sites they admit when they feel they've screwed up - but it's up to them to draw the line.

troll - bad purposes

wind-up - humorous, harmless purposes

How the raving fuck could anyone be "hurt" by it?

Hurt because some random stranger was a bit odd and didn't want her husband to eat burnt cakes and they pointed out it was a bit barking?

Where is the hurt? Where? Where are the carefully crafted posts with outpourings of love and concern and sharing of similar stories of cake????

I wasnt hurt. I am just stoopid.

HoneyDragon · 22/01/2013 12:36

I dipped in and out that thread, it amused me.

Is the op not technically goading, by deliberately trying to start a bun fight that involves MNHQ?

Should I report it?

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 22/01/2013 12:37

Can you imagine amillion reaching out to you on r'ships and mental health.

I don't have to imagine it as she is supportive in MH for sure and despite being PO about some of the daft stuff, that comment just aint cricket.

HoneyDragon · 22/01/2013 12:37

Oh Tantrums, your not stoopid.

Come nestle in my unhoicked bosom and I shall stroke your hair my precious.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 22/01/2013 12:38

On a lighter note - a good old fashioned light hearted wind up thread is good for the soul. I was gobsmaked that a thread about cakes could get so many deletions on it. Grin

Slubberdegullion · 22/01/2013 12:39

I felt hurt by cake-slur-proxy. I have had a long and mutually beneficial relationship with MarsLady's LDC for many years now and to see it defamed thus was most exasperating.
I took down all my home made lard bird seed cakes by way of protest.

D0oinMeCleanin · 22/01/2013 12:39

I partially believed it. My sister is obsessive about her cake to the point where it has in the past taken her three attempts to get a new birthday cake recipe just right but she brings all the 'wrong cakes' here and we eat them whilst drinking some of her ingredients. Amaretto and soggy cake, mmmmm....

Birthday person is not allowed to see or know about the 'wrong cakes'

IWorshipSatin · 22/01/2013 12:39

I am confused - with the cake eating thread MNHQ realised (after the fact) that it was a regular on a wind-up, admitted they were taken in by it, but then went on to seemingly endorse it and did not delete it.

Yet the King Tut thread, which was just as amusing (moreso in my opinion) and a lot of people had invested time and energy in, was just deleted without reaching the conclusion that the cake thread was allowed to reach.

(Yes I'm still bitter about the King Tut Denouement being snatched away from me!)

So, genuine question, what's the difference?

Hullygully · 22/01/2013 12:40

I meant it with love tho keema, I am very fond of amillion. BUT, amillion, if you are hurt by it, I apologise.

Slubberdegullion · 22/01/2013 12:40
