Yy catsrus, I didn't mean it was Pictish- I was trying ineptly to point out that 'rules' don't have to be implemented in a black and White way, and your post excellently demonstrated that. I just couldn't face scrolling back up to quote it or remember it was yours- fatigue was setting in Grin. I found it very interesting.

GrimmaTheNome · 08/11/2011 18:01

If you don't support the idea that every dog is as important as (if not more important than) any person, you get verbally attacked by a whole group of posters.

I've never seen it myself... and I'm struggling to think of many 'groupies'. One or two maybe but not a 'whole group'.
Maybe I just have a knack of steering clear of nasty threads - will have to try to wade in.

Ha! someone just linked to this on Twitter. It looks like a good basis for an MN Pets topic.

That was a cat person though, Maryz. Totally different.

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/11/2011 18:09

As a newbie (I joined about the same time as Pinot) can I just say that Pictish was very unkind to another vulnerable poster on a thread I was on last week.
In fact I reported it and it was moved to Other Stuff.
I've never seen DBF actually personally bully anyone, she just comes in with all guns blazing because animal rescue is her life,
And much as I love animals, I'm far too selfish to do what DBF does.
And if I can't put up with a few insults on a thread, then I would be a sorry specimen, people who report really have to learn to stop being so bloody pathetic.

SoupDragon · 08/11/2011 18:11

So, now we are bringing up other people's irrelevant posting history?

LeBOF · 08/11/2011 18:11

You're a newbie too, LadyB? Bloody upstarts...

GrimmaTheNome · 08/11/2011 18:14

Sorry, that post was aimed at whoever said that people with differing views should go on The DogHouse to tone it down.

me, I think. Sorry you got such a rough ride when you tried... I've been luckier so far. And I think it'll be safer now after all this (whether DBF is there or not)

stinkyfluffycat · 08/11/2011 18:25

I am a newbie, and more of a cat person than a dog person, can I still ask that she be un - banned?

ChooChooWowWow · 08/11/2011 18:25

I didn't read the thread and haven't read all of this one. I would just like to say (if you are listening Justine) DBF is direct and she certainly doesn't hold back from voicing her opinion. However, she is an amazing person who does an amazing job with the dogs she rescues. There is no one else on here who could give the advice and help she gives to posters who have dog problems. I had some serious issues recently with my dog. DBF calmed me down when I was hysterical. She was sending me private messages late into the night. Her advice and the research she did for me prevented me making a very costly mistake in dealing with my dogs issues.
For all the good she can do on this site please MNHQ will you think about letting her come back?.

pictish · 08/11/2011 18:27

LBE are you referring to the thread in which a poster I had never interacted with, or noticed before, claimed to attach every bit as much value to her CATS as she does her CHILDREN?
Because if you are, then no regrets.

I had no clue of the poster's history....and why indeed should I have?

I wasn't 'very unkind'. I said she was a mentalist for drawing a comparison between her kids and her cats and finding them to be equals in her affection.

How is that NOT completely bonkers? Some people do not like the term mentalist, so I apologise for that - no offence intended particularly, but I am not about to apologise for thinking cats = children is bizarre, no matter what your circumstances. I think most people would agree.

My comment was deleted and that's fair enough.

Not that any of this is relevant, but if you're going to bring it up, I'll run with it. Smile

Well, I've been here a year now, but still wouldn't pile onto a thread to support a ban of someone who has been here for years.
I will post and happily disagree though.

Well of course it goes on, if you're posting links to other forums.

Unless that was your point, of course ... Hmm

I'd like to echo what Jeremy said yonks ago. Only with a few more 'fucks' and 'grow up's added in.

Taking it off board is, frankly, pathetic.

SoupDragon · 08/11/2011 18:33

"Well, I've been here a year now, but still wouldn't pile onto a thread to support a ban of someone who has been here for years.'

So why are you on this thread then?

I don't count newbies as people who've been here the best part of a year, btw. To me it means < about a month. So Pictish's interest in the topic makes more sense to me than it did.

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/11/2011 18:39

Well, I'm not supporting the ban am I SoupDragon?
MN is a huge and broad forum. Banning anybody, particularly a poster who has been part of MN for many years, is mean and petty.

SoupDragon · 08/11/2011 18:44

Oh, so you've piled on to not support a ban then.
