What luxury or good quality items have you received or bought for yourself that you think stand the test of time and bring you joy?

Big birthday coming up so I plan to drop heavy hints to DH and also treat myself over the course of the year.

These can be wearable items or home goods and gadgets. They can be expensive (up to low thousands) or much less.

They can be items that finally made you feel like a grown up but that bring you a rush of wonder when you use them.

I’m after quality or beauty or practicality rather than anything super fashionable.

Sadly budget won’t stretch to car or holiday home! And I don’t have the capacity for more pets. I’m good at coming up with experiences gifts so it’s just cold, hard, material goods I’m after!

I bought some Givenchy sunglasses from TK
Maxx which are very nice. With the diamanté lettering.

My brother would agree with you re Alessi design. He collects it.

It’s already been mentioned but a Cartier watch - I bought one for myself over 15 years ago before I was married or had kids and when i probably had the most personal disposable income, and it brings me pleasure every time I wear it - I have never regretted the spend for a second. I then did buy a 2nd one for myself for my 50th… and I would like to get a third so that I have one to hand on to each of my children.

@OrchidsBloomimg I love Dinosaur Design resin too. Bought several pieces when I lived in Australia 20 years ago and I still appreciate/love them.

That is so uncanny. Mine is a rose gold apple watch also! I have a blingy strap for big occasions, and a pale pink strap for everyday. Like you, I don't use anything else these days, they are so useful for lots of things.

Ma grew roses in our backyard when I was little. My absolute favourite wasa scented deep red climbing rose called Etoile de Hollande. It flowered all summer and scented the whole house on still summer nights. I've planted one in every house I've lived in.

Pooky rechargeable light for my bathroom. It is totally unnecessary, absolutely beautiful and I love it.

You can definitely get screw back diamond studs. A lot of places offer that as an option

Very good perfume, but wear it often instead of for special events.

When i divorced my husband 6 years ago, he took the tv and the old sofa the bastard. Clearly didn't ghink of his children. So I purchased a much bigger tv and an oxblood Chesterfield sofa which I adore

A pair of carved altar statues made for me by Bel Bucca who carved Doreen Valientes altar statues. Bel has since died so there wont be any more so they are priceless in our community. People would pay thousands for them but they wont be going anywhere while I am still alive.

I agree with all those who suggest a watch, especially Cartier. I bought myself a steel Panthère de Cartier watch over 20 years ago with some of the money from my divorce settlement. It was very significant and symbolic of a new time for me. I have worn it everyday since and I love it just as much now as I did then.

all have brought me multi-year joy

Cartier watch and Mulberry handbags. I wear/use them pretty much every day and have done for years. I’d rather invest in pieces that will last and will give me joy each time I pick them up, than get a load of cheaper bits I fall out of love with.
