rear facing stroller - bringing this to the top again

hi
have revived this thread as I'm in exactly the same position - got a toddler, so past the stage of wanting complicated systems, and tired of having to stop every few steps to find out what he's saying to me. the thread was too old for any of the links posted to work, so just wondering if anyone has any ideas, or if any of the original people can chip in again? ideally would like an umbrella style that i can get on and off the bus, and perfect would be one that turns do be either front or rear facing.
thanx

i like proper carrycots.

Seoulmum · 01/02/2007 14:58

So, what is the lightest rear facing pram? I saw the Fisher Price Infant to Toddler on-line but it doesn't last very long and is too heavy for me.

JillyBaby · 01/02/2007 14:58

misdee - Sorry, what do you mean by 'proper'?

MrsBadger · 01/02/2007 15:06

Proper carrycots IME are ones you can detach from the chassis and leave the baby to sleep in - the Jane Auto Carrycot is indeed 'proper'.

Non-proper are the pramette-type things that are really just a lie-flat seat with a big ol' cosytoes and a hood.

NB Jillybaby I am going through all this too as am due August - initially fancied a Proper Carrycot solution but have think have eventually settled for a pramette type (maybe the Silver Cross Freeway) plus a moses basket for night.

nappyaddict · 01/02/2007 15:12

i like the proper carry cot cos then it saves buying a moses basket aswell. and ideal for when visiting people - means you don't have to take pushchair AND moses basket.

bethoo - is it the bebecar stylo or racer city by any chance? they are 2 of my faves.

you just have to get on with it, i'm at uni not college, i momentarily forgot lol. it isn't ds that stops me working anyway i lack motivation! he is convenient to blame though sometimes mum babysits ds 1-2 nights a week for me. 1 night i work and then sometimes i go out with friends 1 night too.

bethoo · 01/02/2007 16:30

nappyaddict - i think it is the stylo, might be the new 2007 edition. my dad agrees it is nice so we will have a look at it this month (no other month to look at since due 2 March! some nice boyish colors too.

nappyaddict · 01/02/2007 18:02

4 air filled wheels that swivel? if so thats the stylo. im so jealous!

nappyaddict · 02/02/2007 01:53

the quinny 3xl is another good one.

the zooper 3 is reversible and fits quite a few car seats but i dont think you can get a carry cot for it.

JillyBaby · 02/02/2007 09:03

quinny 3xl is a 3 wheeler isn't it? Is there a 4 wheel equivalent?

bethoo · 02/02/2007 10:41

Jilly - think Quinny is only in 3 wheeler!
Ask Nappyaddict as i swear she is an expert!

Nappyaddict - have you evre thought about working in sales or design of prams as you seem to be a well of knowledge! i think that is the stylo one you are talking about as the tyres are nice and big though unsure about wanting air filled ones! what are the chances of them getting punctured???!!! but i will have a look! you sound like you have a pram fetish which is different than the usual handbag or shoe!!! lol were you out last night?

MrsBadger · 02/02/2007 11:30

Have just been alerted to this by my celerity-pushchair-spotting mate - never mind rear-facing, what you really need is something in gold ...

what is the world coming to...

bethoo · 02/02/2007 13:07

MrsBadger - i will not be rushing out to get one, i think it looks tacky! anyone agree?

JillyBaby · 02/02/2007 13:34

A gold pushchair is all very well, but is the seat reversible and do they do a matching carrycot???!!

bethoo · 02/02/2007 14:14

Jillybaby - do you actually like it? it looks like one of those foldy type umbrella ones so i doubt the chair is reversible. what do you think nappyaddict (resident expert!)?

tinkerbellie · 02/02/2007 14:17

it's the ziko one from m and p so it is just an umbrella one!!!

misdee · 02/02/2007 14:17

its a mamas and papas ziko, very limited edition, i belive puff daddy also has one. (hoe sad am i?)

JillyBaby · 02/02/2007 14:19

Bethoo - sorry if the sarcasm wasn't clear. No, I don't actually like it.

bethoo · 02/02/2007 14:27

jillybaby - sorry, i am still new to this! i think it is more for the 'chav' generation, hope i am not offending anyone as not intended!
so are we all mums or are there any mums to be here like me who are still undecided on what they are getting?

JillyBaby · 02/02/2007 14:33

Mum to be - due 5th June.

bethoo · 02/02/2007 14:37

i am a mum to be on 2 march.
Jilly - do you know what you are having yet and where do you live?

JillyBaby · 02/02/2007 14:41

Two different scans said it is a girl, so fairly sure.
Derby.

misdee · 02/02/2007 14:44

i'm already a mum to 3 girls. i just like prams

nappyaddict · 02/02/2007 14:58

bethoo - you can get the stylo without air filled wheels too. i just think the air filled ones make for a better ride. but you're right it'd be a bugger if it punctured. ask misdee about that with her phil and teds

don't really know that much about prams and have only got the one surprisingly enough. i just did a lot of research when i was pregnant to make sure i got the one i really wanted.

the musty is good if you are planning on having another one anytime soon cos of the duo seat. phil and teds also but have heard once the child gets a bit older they figure out how to take the seat offf

nappyaddict · 02/02/2007 14:59

jilly - the quinny fashion is 4 wheeler. some going very cheap on ebay cos i think it came out a few years ago.

nappyaddict · 02/02/2007 15:01

no not out last night. its term time so no one to go out with really! only really go out in the holidays when friends are home and cos i havent been out in so long mum doesnt mind babysitting a couple of nights a week.
