hi
have revived this thread as I'm in exactly the same position - got a toddler, so past the stage of wanting complicated systems, and tired of having to stop every few steps to find out what he's saying to me. the thread was too old for any of the links posted to work, so just wondering if anyone has any ideas, or if any of the original people can chip in again? ideally would like an umbrella style that i can get on and off the bus, and perfect would be one that turns do be either front or rear facing.
thanx

Misdee - sure it is not a fetish? at least it is not a pervy one! though i am getting that way as there are so many out there it is confusing!
i do not like the Phil and Teds double one to be honest as it just looks odd having a newborn lying underneath almost touching the floor! and they do not look that secure to me! but hey i am not planning to have anohter one just yet since i have yet to experience the joys of labour!!!!
why oh why does no one live near me!!!

misdee · 02/02/2007 16:23

its more of an addiction

but i do buy some cheap to sell on. i have my own keepers, the phil and teds is one if you need a double. i need to get the wheels slimed and puncture proof soon.

tinkerbellie · 02/02/2007 19:27

hey misdee how do you slime and punture proof your wheels
have a bugaboo frog and if i was to get a puncture over here wouldn't be bothered but am off on jolly holls in may and am a little worried about what we would do if that did happen over there !!

misdee · 02/02/2007 20:29

they sell slime in halfords and larger tescos. apparently its quite messy to do so its an outside job.

slinkstar · 03/02/2007 00:56

don't mean to be thick but what is this slime business??? am i missing something? do in eed it whats it do?
thanx

nappyaddict · 03/02/2007 02:28

is a sealant you put on the wheels to stop them puncturing. its £8.99 in halfords and well worth it if you ask me. you don't want to get a puncture and have to drag the buggy back, including dc and shopping!

tinkerbellie · 03/02/2007 10:34

thanks will be getting some atthe weekend definately!!

misdee · 03/02/2007 10:35

am planning on getting some today, if i remember lol.

JillyBaby · 05/02/2007 11:30

Since last posting, found this to rival that gold buggy found by MrsBadger.

Also found icandy apple and Britax Vigour 4 which might be more practial possibilities that appear to tick the boxes for rear facing seat and carrycot attachments. Need to seem them in person now to check on weight and folding.
Anybody got any opinions on either of these two?

bethoo · 05/02/2007 11:38

Jilly - both the britax vigour and candyapple are both rear and front facing as i was interested but still unsure about three wheelers! i know that the britax is light as i have tested it myself and they do quite a selection of colours

JillyBaby · 05/02/2007 11:42

We're not looking for a 3 wheeler, but the Britax has a 4 wheel version and the iCandy one has some kind of feature where you have 2 front wheels that slide together or apart.

tinkerbellie · 05/02/2007 12:00

i think that the icandy and britax vigour are quite heavy around 12-13kgs

i actually had the light weight version of this the britax verve, it folded easily and quite small nut the underseat bag ws full when the raincover was in it and the seat was tiny my daughter is only 16 mths and her head was touching the top of the hood!! but obviousley the vigour is the larger version so if your notthat bothered about th weight that's prob really good
there's an icandy apple on ebay at the mo going qite cheap

JillyBaby · 05/02/2007 12:09

Just read down to the bottom of this thread and discovered that there has already been quite a bit of discussion on the icandy apple . Main conclusion seems to be that it is good but heavy.

nappyaddict · 05/02/2007 16:31

there's the icandy cherry which is lighter.

the britax can only be used from 6 months with the seat on so i would assume the seat doesn't lie very flat. i prefer buggies suitable from birth so lo can have a nice comfortable sleep in them.

JillyBaby · 05/02/2007 16:52

Hi nappyaddict - our plan with whichever buggy we end up choosing is to get the extra carrycot to use for the first few months so lo can lie flat and potentially be taken in and out the house without waking up.

The icandy Cherry does appear to pretty much meet all of our criteria based on the information on the website, so it's a very interesting possibility indeed. The only slight concern is we want a rigid carrycot and the website description says it 'folds flat for easy storage'.
I don't suppose anyone has seen one yet, so we'll just have to wait a few weeks and then try to track one down.

nappyaddict · 05/02/2007 18:15

oh know i would use the carrycot as well for the first few months. but when they outgrow the carrycot it isn't to say they will be 6 months, can sit unaided and who wouldn't prefer to lie flat when asleep?

tinkerbellie · 05/02/2007 18:47

when it says the icandy cherry lies flat it probably means thats when the carrycot is being used you have to remove it to fold the pushchair up

FirstAtForty · 06/02/2007 14:54

Back to the iCandy Apple, I had another go with it in a shop last week and it did seem heavy even compared with the Buzz (which I have).

It's also longer and bulkier out front than the Buzz (though a little narrower), so I felt a little bit better

Will be v interested to see the Cherry!

LadyClaret · 06/02/2007 16:32

I am thinking about getting the icandy cherry for travelling. Keen about the rear facing element after having to put ds in the buggy part of the 3d silver cross after only 2 1/2 months- too small!! Unfortunately it is only forward facing. Have found a web site that says the icandy cherry is due out and of feb and the buggy part is £210. Not sure what the other parts will cost.

nappyaddict · 06/02/2007 21:54

there's also the quinny fashion 3 wheeler.

JillyBaby · 07/02/2007 11:54

Decided to defer any further investigation until we can have a look at the Cherry which looks like current favourite.
Soon going on last holiday before LO due and our world is turned upside down, so shopping for baby paraphenalia has to go on hold anyway.

nappyaddict · 16/02/2007 19:30

after testing some of these out i have decided my favourite is the quinny fashion 3 (discontinued though so only available on ebay and the like), the stylo and the racer city (also discontinued). why they have to discontinue great pushchairs is beyond me!

tinkerbellie · 16/02/2007 19:40

would it be wrong to get the cherry as well as having a bugaboo

promise to sell my quinny zapp

does anyone know of any way at all to leave the seat on the bugaboo when folding or a way to click the seat and cahssis together to make it easier when passing to a taxi driver and carrying about etc?
really love it and this is the only prob can get over it but it's a shame

nappyaddict · 16/02/2007 19:42

really annoyed that my 2 favourites are discontinued. have just looked up the weight of the stylo ... 19.5 kg don't think we will be going for that one!!

tinkerbellie · 16/02/2007 19:44

jesus you could sue for back damage
