hi
have revived this thread as I'm in exactly the same position - got a toddler, so past the stage of wanting complicated systems, and tired of having to stop every few steps to find out what he's saying to me. the thread was too old for any of the links posted to work, so just wondering if anyone has any ideas, or if any of the original people can chip in again? ideally would like an umbrella style that i can get on and off the bus, and perfect would be one that turns do be either front or rear facing.
thanx

nappyaddict - where can you get them for that price as when i look on some websites they are between 3 and £450?

nappyaddict · 30/01/2007 11:59

this one is £190

bethoo · 31/01/2007 09:18

does that come with the carry cot too?

percypig · 31/01/2007 09:26

I recently got a Buzz (I already have a Pliko travel system) and although it's definitely not as easy to use as the Pliko ds and I both love the rear facing mode. It's also easeir to put up and down than many rear facing models (althoguh I have nipped my fingers in it so now always use the clip thing) and is really light and easy to steer.

Having said all that we are keeping our Pliko too - it's great for travelling, which I don't think the Buzz is, and it'll save us buying the carrycot or carseat to go with the Buzz as we hope to have at least another 2/3 children.

I just got the infinity. what a bargain! Its so bouncy and funky looking, i think my pram addiction is cured! baby only 7 months and the infinity is 7th buggy

tinkerbellie · 31/01/2007 15:01

i have got another bugaboo had one last year but sold for the money, and now have got a frog (hada gecko last time) love it if only the seat stayed on when you folded it it would be perfect!!

MrsBadger · 31/01/2007 15:07

I've eventually given up looking for one that can do everything - am settling for a) a Freeway or similar that is bouncy, has a cosy prametty thing for when they're tiny and faces both directions and b) a Maclaren to sling in the car.

Still works out cheaper than the not-quite-perfect Bugaboo...

tinkerbellie · 31/01/2007 15:10

i have a bugaboo frog and a quinny zapp got both off ebay with footmuffs, parasols etc and they were quite cheap but i suppose it depends if you are willing to buy second hand - have some friends whoa re quite funy about that, byt i think that if it's in good nick and you can wash the fabric why not?

MrsBadger · 31/01/2007 15:15

...but if Bugaboos are 'cheap' on Ebay, think how cheap something like the Freeway (which is only £300 brand new) could be...

Apart from anything else MIL has volunteered to Buy The Pram - I think she thinks it's traditional or something .

nappyaddict · 31/01/2007 22:10

bethoo, i think the carrycot would be extra. why not email the seller and see if he/she has any of those too?

nappyaddict · 31/01/2007 22:19

soft carrycot for £26.94 (available in ice blue or brown)

hard carry cot for £54.94 (available in ice blue only)

tinkerbellie · 31/01/2007 22:53

omg we should work for these buggy places can you imagine

i thnk when my kids are out of pushchairs i might haveto work in mothercare or something just to get my fix

the last time we went to look at pushchairs had to show the girl there how to fold most of them down!!

nappyaddict · 01/02/2007 02:06

i wish i could invent a buggy

bethoo · 01/02/2007 09:37

nappyaddict · 01/02/2007 11:23

oh i think i remember seeing it in lullabys in shrewsbury actually!

bethoo · 01/02/2007 13:16

nappyaddict - are you at college?

JillyBaby · 01/02/2007 13:56

Can I ask up to what age anybody thinks a rear-facing pushchair is better? I had the impression that they fairly soon wanted to look where they were going...

We are expecting our first at the start of June, so this is all new. Having done some initial research we like the Jane Nomad Pro - it seems well made, and not too heavy, and you can get a carrycot that easily clips on and off - in fact this was our main criteria as we figured it would be handy to be able to attach or detach the carrycot without disturbing the baby. We figured by the time the baby was too big for the carrycot, they'd probably want to be facing forwards.....

nappyaddict · 01/02/2007 14:34

oh no ... ds is 7 months and hates facing forward. my cousin looks after him once a week and last week she used a cheapo buggy cos she wasn't sure if she'd need the pram or not. he hated it cos hes used to facing me. it does make you talk to them more cos you do it without realising and they love it!

misdee · 01/02/2007 14:37

jillybaby, dd3 still faces me most of the time at 23months.

nappyaddict · 01/02/2007 14:37

yes bethoo - why?

misdee · 01/02/2007 14:39

btw, i am selling a bugaboo gecko for £390delivered

bethoo · 01/02/2007 14:46

nappyaddict - because that is impressive, how do you manage to be full time mum and study! and judging by yuor pics you still have a fantastic social life, i am jealous!!!

Jillybaby - i like the idea of giving your child a choice of facing the great unknown or the secure familiarity of mummys face and it keeps the interaction going too i suppose! and it keeps the kids away from taking things off shelves or rummaging through other peoples trolleys! has anyone ever had a small child facing forward taking stuff out your basket! i have all this to come no doubt!

seen a new pram i like, 2 in one and can face either front or rear, it is a bebe car and it is on the website that nappyaddict has put a link through to. any opinion on it? it is about £400 but hey my dad is paying now! since it is my parents first grand child they are determined he will not go without!

JillyBaby · 01/02/2007 14:50

OK Thanks - Not quite sure how soon they grow out of the carrycot, but certain it is well before 23 months!

Does the idea of a pushchair that converts to a pram via an easy to detach carrycot actually make sense to you, or is it one of those things that only first time parents think is a good idea?
