hi
have revived this thread as I'm in exactly the same position - got a toddler, so past the stage of wanting complicated systems, and tired of having to stop every few steps to find out what he's saying to me. the thread was too old for any of the links posted to work, so just wondering if anyone has any ideas, or if any of the original people can chip in again? ideally would like an umbrella style that i can get on and off the bus, and perfect would be one that turns do be either front or rear facing.
thanx
mitsuko

I'm going to have to ask the sellar to put it on the scales arent i?

And double check that it folds with the seat REAR facing...

I already sent several emails, she must think that i'm mad.

I have been searching all these german sites for more info, but GCSE german only gets you so far! Judging by the prices on things like the handysitt highchair and hippychick hip seat they get a better deal the price we pay in pounds is just converted into euros in many cases!

littleducks · 18/03/2007 09:46

Ah my dreams of a bargain are shattered only fold with cseat forward facing, so i would have to take the seat off same as cherry so it comes down to:

Top Mark 'cherry lookalike' £165 (plus £10 raincover) so lighter on my purse but 11kg

iCandy cherry £210 excluding carrycot (£90 to buy one later if i have another baby and this is the perfect buggy!!!) with extortionate accessories £50/£60 footmuff.

Shall i just buy the cherry but accidently tell my dh the prices of the cheaper buggy?

misdee · 18/03/2007 09:47

what if he finds out?

misdee · 18/03/2007 09:49

what about an emmeljunga cerox?

littleducks · 18/03/2007 09:57

I would be spending my money (im 21 on mon and probably use birthday money as people have stopped sending gifts and started sending cheques ) so he wouldn't actually mind that much, but would go on about it as im usually thrifty and would drop into conversations about the £200 i spent on a second buggy when i had the first one that cost £100.

See my sil (who doesnt go out much so it doesnt bother her much) has three kids, and has had three buggies, firstly a graco style one 6 years ago £30/£40, then a mothercare basic stroller so £20ish, now a mamas and papas aria double £40 secondhand, so he cant see why i would spend more for just one buggy. He doesn't understand i have to get out regularly to stop going crazy and doesnt realise how much sil hates all three buggies but as she rarely goes out especially now she drives it doesnt matter.

misdee · 18/03/2007 10:01

littleducks, if you are using your ownh money for birthday pressies etc then he really cant say anything. how old is your little one now?

dh says nothing about my pram habit, he knows that i will keep the ones i like (ie the bugaboo isnt going anywhere) and other ones are just projects to fix and sell on, or just to try. i got the buzz as the seat is bigger than the bugaboo, and it is good, but the seat doesnt sit unright when rear facing, which means dd3 gets agitated. i would keep it and sell the bugaboo if the seat was upright when rearfacing. she loves rear facing and screams if i turn her the other way. in strollers she is always trying to get out to look at me and chat.

littleducks · 18/03/2007 10:08

He wont complain as such as he knows i try hard not to waste money whereas he struggles (still smoking even though he was supposed to quit before baby was born!) but he may telll lots of people and mention it when i complain that he overspent or didnt get the cheaper brand etc. (which i do the old nag that i am )

i am intrigued by the emmaljunga, and yippee, my local shop is listed as a stockist so will go there today if open and compare. I really like this shop we have justed moved 5mins walk from.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 10:09

so on the buzz when the seat is rear facing you can't sit it up? i didn't realise that! another one to cross off my list.... the bugaboo does sit up when rear facing though doesn't it?

misdee · 18/03/2007 10:10

have a look at the emmaljunga.com site. not sure on the price new, but have one heading my way this week. just need to clean it and will be putting it up for sale once i check its ok.

misdee · 18/03/2007 10:11

the buzz has two seat position when rear facing, fully reclined and semi-upright. the bugaboo goes upright facing either way. will add a picyure of them to my profile soon aso you can see what i mean.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 10:12

thankyou

misdee · 18/03/2007 10:21

should be on there now.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 10:26

see what you mean i don't think ds would like that.

misdee · 18/03/2007 10:27

dd3 isnt keen, keeps grabbing tyhe bumper car and hoisting herself up.

FirstAtForty · 18/03/2007 10:39

Misdee - I'm currently researching Bugaboos, do you know if there's much difference between the Frog anad Gecko for size and nippiness or are they basically the same model?

The Cameleon looks very slightly wider and longer than the Gecko in the shop but I can't find any 'official' measurements anywhere.

Nappyaddict - thanks for the link, but the Zooper description says it is 66cm wide which is wider than the Buzz (which I think is 60cm, but I'm going to check later!)

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 10:43

the buzz is 66cm too i think i checked earlier.

misdee · 18/03/2007 10:55

the frog is no longer made here in the uk, and isnt available to buy bnew, the frog spares parts wont be available the end ofthis year either, unless you contact a USA supplier.

gecko is a lot smaller than a cameleon (h ad agecko here for a week for cleaning and resale), cam is much better.

littleducks · 18/03/2007 12:13

Sadly my local pram shop only opens the first sunday of the month! If i like the emmaljunga in the flesh maybe i could get in touch misdee?

(i am assuming you are somewhere in the vicinity of harefield hosp which isnt a million miles from me)

I do still yearn for an icandy cherry though, its just soo expensive and not in stock in the liquorice (blk/red) colour anywhere near and im sure the beige one would get ruined which would scupper the changes f me selling it on.

littleducks · 18/03/2007 12:58

Did anyone know that marks and spencers used to make pushchairs???? Were they any good, as after deciding to blow £200 on a cherry, i have just seen this on ebay its probably heavy though!

misdee · 18/03/2007 13:03

littleducks i am in herts.

FirstAtForty · 18/03/2007 13:04

Nappyaddict - you're right, have just measured the wheels on my Buzz and they are somewhere between 65-66cm.

So the official Quinny website is wrong (which is what I was going on) - it says on there "Even with the wheels attached, the Buzz is compact enough to fit into virtually any boot (80x20x60cm)." The 60cm can only refer to the width, and it doesn't seem to get any narrower when folded down...

FirstAtForty · 18/03/2007 13:06

Thanks Misdee for the bugaboo info, that's interesting about the Frog parts too.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 13:46

60cm is the width when folded.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 13:47

i am assuming that they have taken width to be more like the depth iyswim. so from the back wheel to the front wheel maybe?

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 13:47

or maybe its with the wheels removed?
