thanks for setting this up! we're finalising DD's application. not easy getting the documents ready by the deadline given that her current school only starts on Jan 6th. fingers crossed!

What documents are you getting?

We only attached the year 8 report which also have the attendance, you should have that?
For the reference we only put the contact details; couldn’t attach it as the school has not provided it despite me chasing for 2 weeks.

wandsworth25 · 05/01/2025 12:39

her report does not state the attendance so I need to ask the school to issue an attendance certificate, plus while I will only add the referee details, I need to check with the relevant teacher first so I hope she agrees. it will all be fine I'm sure, just very last minute (also due to the fact that we decided to apply very last minute over the holidays!).

What strand is your DD applying for?

For the reference it is normally Head of year or Head of School They want if from. I think I may have read it somewhere but can’t be sure.

Best of luck

We received an email asking DD to submit a portfolio. It didn't include a date for the workshop/interview yet. She will work on this over the weekend.

That’s good news. I think the process may be slightly different depending on the strand. Best of luck.

Thank you for setting up the thread. My daughter applied for the theatre strand for year 10. I emailed the school about the reference and they said that the head of year will be contacted by BRIT if needed.
Good luck everyone!

Hope we hear from them soon

Hi everyone my DD is applying for key stage 4 music for 2025- she is a singer.

Heard nothing so far, pretty nervous, but have been told that all KS4 workshops are over 3 days on 26-28 February and we may not get an outcome until end of March/early April- so it’s a long haul.

DD has been going to Brit Kids for 3 years but still hard to get any indication of how many kids are applying and what form the audition will take.

Best of luck to everyone’s DC during the application process.-

Hi,

my daughter applied for ks4 music and she’s a singer too.
we havent heard anything yet. Checking my emails every minute 🫣 super nervous.
good luck to everyone, best wishes 🍀

Autumnleavescolors · 22/01/2025 11:51

It seems they are busy dealing with the Sixth Form applications first.

It would be great to know how many applications they received for year 10 for each strand, to ser the chances.

Hi Elifee - I think the email invitation may go to your DD’s email address- I’m anticipating, based on last year that we will hear next week! Are you in catchment, we are, but am not sure how it changes the odds of being successful as I’m sure more people apply who are in the catchment? Best of luck !

Hi Autumnleavescolors

I asked at the open evening and was given the vague response that in most years the music course receives by far the most applicants, followed by MT.

At the open evening the music course presenter even said “congratulations if your DC receives an offer to study music!” (It stressed me and my DD out to hear this).

When I spoke to our music tour guide at the open evening, he said that in his KS4 music year group 16/20 were singers!

I understand all the performing courses are very popular, even at KS4, with the creative courses receiving less applicants per place at KS4 than for year 12

I hope this helps - best of luck to all.

Hi,

i dont have a clue about the numbers but been searching online to have an idea from last years applications. Its probably going to be a tough one. Would be happy to have an interview to be honest, if she gets a rejection without the audition i would be gutted.
good luck to everyone.

Hi,

do you know how many ks4 singer places they have?
scary to know so many applicants for singing.
best of luck to all

Agree. I hope they all get the opportunity to audition at least. Will be very sad to be declined just based on the application.

Brit2025 · 23/01/2025 13:18

Hi Elifee- Based on my conversations at the open evening I understand that:

1.they have 20 places in KS4 for music each year.

2.However, there’s no quota/fixed number for any instrument so they don’t stipulate how many places are for singers,

3.they judge each candidate based on merits.

However I believe ( my opinion only), if the candidate also plays other instruments in addition to voice, this may put them in a good position (unfortunately, my DD doesn’t really, she plays the piano but is only a beginner) as they split the kids into bands every few weeks, so want other instruments ideally.

Thanks for starting the thread! My son has applied for IDD KS4 - we heard today and received a date for the workshop and interview. Exciting but feeling nervous for him.
good luck to all the kids. Does anyone know when they send out offers? X

Hi Pixie2025

Congratulations on your DS’s interview!

Looking at the Mumsnet threads on KS4 from 2024, the strands all have different offer dates (as some strands have two stages and others have a larger number of applicants) last year the music and MT offers didn’t go out until the 26 March, whereas VAD was 3 weeks earlier on 1 March.

Very best of luck for the interview!
