congratulations to all and commiserations to those who didn’t get what they were hoping for.
To those on wait lists please remember that your child has met the standard for that school and that they think your child will thrive there if a place comes up. Please also know that there can be much movement on the lists particularly once the Tiffin & other popular state school places come out so all is not lost . So stay in touch with the school and be clear to them that you would accept a place quickly if it came up and say why. When there is movement Admissions are more likely to offer to a definite yes rather than a maybe . You will in any case only be given a short time to decide .
If you are lucky enough to convert a wait list to an actual place please don’t feel like a “second class citizen” - they made the grade and are there by rights At our super selective the wait listers often out performed those who had got straight places- in my DC years that also meant medicine places, and in my DD year waitlisters
made up 25% of Oxbridge places.
I say all of this with experience for one of mine was a wait listed and they really thrived there . I know plenty others too. For those for whom the wait list didn’t ultimately deliver a place - they have thrived at the school that was the right place for them - one friend’s rejected & waitlisted DD managed to achieve something that their SPGS sibling didn’t and couldn’t .
Good luck to you all.
